At this price point it's typically one-size-awkwardly-fits-all, or else it’s a simple helmet lacking adequate airflow and an effective retention system. Fox Racing, however, has an advantage — unlike the competition, the Flux is built with attention to these all-important details.

This means fewer molds and resources tied up in multiple, overlapping designs. Due to this, Fox Racing focuses its collective efforts on making the Flux one of the lightest, best-breathing, and safest helmets in this bracket. In fact, it easily passes the stringent CPSC safety standard, complete with 20 large vents, and it comfortably balances a triple-beam under the 400-gram mark.

Those features contribute to the reason that many riders often have more than one Flux on deck. But there's more to it than that. Fox Racing was one of the first to forgo the industry's tradition of remarketing visor-clad, skinny-tire helmets to mountain bikers. Starting fresh, the original Flux successfully melded additional coverage with plenty of ventilation, leaving ultra-aero, minimalist helmets for gran fondos.

A Detox fit system is quick to adjust, and it comfortably wraps the head. The Flux is constructed from expanded polystyrene foam with an in-mold shell, and Fox Racing provides seven finishes to complete any kit.

The Fox Racing Flux Helmet is available in sizes XS/S, S/M, and L/XL. It comes in the colors Acid Green, Black Camo, Black/red, Fatigue Green, Matte/black, Orange, and Snow Camo.

Won't beat it for the price

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Nothing terribly innovative with this helmet but it's also not lacking any features I wish I'd have. Adjustment system in the back is super easy to use and the sizing gets the job done.

If you're in need of a helmet but don't need to get caught up in the latest marketing trends this is your buy!

Great helmet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this helmet. I have had a Flux ever since they first came out and I love it. Super strong, great looks, and comfortable fit. The full nelson system in the back is really great, although sometimes hard to work with gloves. I would say that it runs just a little big.

Super stoked

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought one of these on sale on a buddy's recommendation, and I am super stoked with it.

It fits well, breathes great, and offers plenty of coverage without feeling heavy or hot or interfering with my sunglasses. The visor sits up high enough where I don't feel like it impedes my vision, but still offers shade. The helmet doesn't move around whilst bombing through the chunk, and doesn't need to feel tight to do so. I like the adjustment device even more than the dial fit I have had on other lids.

I like the style, too, it has a nice MTB look as opposed to many helmets that look like roadie helmets with a visor pinned on.

Super stoked, especially for what I paid. I just recommended one to a friend.

Pretty good helmet

I've been using this helmet for trail riding and it's pretty good, it's light you barely notice it's there, has great ventilation, you can wear sunglasses and fits perfect.

Pretty good helmet

Suuuuppppeerrrrr CHEAP

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Really disappointed in this helmet. I expected a little more from a $100 Fox helmet even if it was on sale. The fit system is the same as helmets at Walmart. For the same price get the SixSixOne Recon helmet with a BOA fit system. If money isn't a problem get the POC Trabec for $150.

Great helmet for the price.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Covers the back of your skull well. The fit can be a little uncomfortable unless you loosen the back fastener before putting it on.

It's a very open, airy helmet. Allows a lot of air flow through to keep your head cool.

Good purchase.

Will buy again

bought this helmet for my 6 inch bike for aggressive trail riding. vents well, adjustments are good and it fits well. works pefect with sunglasses.

Put my bike down and ate it. Hit my face hard and helmet did its job perfectly. cracked in two places. If the helmet doesnt give then your head will. Will buy again.

    good helmet

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Using this helmet for commuting/trail riding. The purported ventilation is what drew me in to purchasing this helmet (although like another reviewer mentioned, my forehead can run hot in it), it's light, and the price was right, so hey! No real downsides so far, although I haven't figured out if the visor can or should be taken off.

    good helmet

    Awesome picture Cassy !!!

    Great all around helmet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this helmet for trail riding in Sedona where it gets VERY hot in the summer.

    + Great Ventilation

    + Feels Light on Head

    + Fitment is Perfect

+ I Like the Detox System

+ Glasses and Earbuds Fit Comfortably

    Only Negative is...

When sweat builds up on my forehead and the front cushion all of a sudden a giant rush of water will start cascading down all at once.

Chris, would you or someone from Fox please elaborate on the "sweat cascading" issue? Gary

I havent had a problem with the sweat issue with this helmet more than any other helmet.

This Helmet can be used with goggles for...

This Helmet can be used with goggles for all mountain/downhill ride?

    Best Answer

    Hi Alexander,

Yes this helmet can be used with with goggles! The goggle strap would rest right below the "fin" you can notice at the back of the helmet. If you have any additional questions, or would like me to get this order set up, contact me at

Great XC / All Mtn Helmet

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my second Flux helmet and still fits me better that most other options. For me the fit doesn't seem to hit my sunglasses which Ive had issues with on other models. Great venting and very easy to clean.

    Pretty Good

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a pretty nice helmet. Great price relative to comparable options, good coverage for safety, not too heavy, GREAT ventilation. The only drawback to me is that I prefer to have a dial in the back that I can spin easily with one hand, the adjustment system on this is a bit trickier to do while on the trail. Once you get it dialed in though, it is very comfy and you don't know it's there.

Want a nice AM (all mountain, more protective than a classic XC helmet) style helmet without breaking into the triple digits? This is a great choice.

Sizing is pretty straight forward with only two choices, but refer to the size chart if you aren't sure.
