Description

Tough enough for race day.

Tough enough for free riding, without feeling like a boxing glove on singletrack, Fox Racing's Dirtpaw Race Gloves pack years of experience to keep you connected to the bike and comfortable on the trail. At the top of the hand, lightweight air mesh cools, while a direct inject TRP protects the fingers and back-of-hand.

Neoprene knuckles in-between the TRP protection add flexibility for effortless braking and shifting. On top of this, a silicone fingertip printing ensures that your fingers stay where you put them. For added durability, the Dirtpaw's palm has been constructed from single layer of Ax Suede. This material is lightly padded for comfort without any bulkiness or bunching around low-profile grips. Finally, a wrist tab hook-and-loop closure keeps the gloves snug without pinching.

The Fox Racing Dirtpaw Race Gloves are available in seven sizes from Small to XXXX-Large and in the colors Black, Blue, Green/blue, Red, White, and Yellow.,

Great Mountain Biking Gloves

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these gloves right before heading to Colorado for a week, where I rode a few days Evolution Bike Park, several days in Fruita/Grand Junction and raced in a two-day enduro. They were great - comfortable, not too hot in the desert conditions of western Colorado, and seemingly quite durable. I've been using them for several months since and they are still going strong. I have yet to put them through the test of a major crash, thank goodness, but they have come in contact with the ground and a few trees on a couple of occasions and have held up well while protecting my hands. So far, my favorite mountain biking gloves.

Excellent Gloves

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This was my second pair of the dirtpaws, and I will buy another next year. Great gloves that fit well and hold up, good price point, I would definitely recommend.

Good gloves

I'm surprised at how well these have held up. I've used them for an entire year now and wash them a lot. I generally wash them after every ride and let them hang to dry. I recently purchased a second set, assuming I may need them but the old ones are still in near perfect condition. I'm impressed, considering the low price.

Dirtpaw from a roadie's prospective

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

Having been a Roadie before I discovered the tacky joy of early morning singletrack, I assumed that all of my roadie gear would work just fine for mountain biking. I had a helmet, gloves, a ton of jerseys, and bib shorts.

Sure enough, my favorite Castelli Pro Gel Gloves couldn't protect my knuckles from their first encounter with branches. I ride in a sweet part of Southern California where there's a lot of brush, thorns, and over hanging trees. It didn't take long before I figured out that I needed to have legit mountain bike gloves.

Like you, I did my research, needing to keep the cost reasonable, but still get something durable that would do me a solid when it came to protection. I read a number of reviews about the Dirtpaw gloves, pulled the trigger, and hoped for the best. Two years later, I've taken these gloves on just about every MTB ride and they're still taking a beating. (thankfully my knuckles are not!)

I almost forgot to mention, I sweat a lot, the soft-touch pad on each thumb is great for wiping sweat and the occasional booger.

PROS:
+ Great styling / design, wouldn't expect any less from FOX
+ Solid knuckle protection, even against small thorns
+ Been through 200+ washes in wash machine
+ No color fading so far
+ No tearing despite many spills
+ Soft-touch Pad on the outside of the thumb is what made me pull the trigger on these gloves over other MTB gloves

CONS:
- I have to agree with some other folks about the Velcro strap coming free from time to time. The hexagonal design on the Velcro strap looks cool, but leaves room for improvement when it comes to doing what Velcro is suppose-to do and keep things in place.
- The pointer finger has some "fuzziness" were the fabric is starting to bead (2 years later)

Tips:
+ Wash the gloves every other ride to keep dirt from building up.
+ You may want to consider another Fox glove for winter if temps get below 40 degrees, otherwise these are great for anything above 40

Just right - Maybe not

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These gloves look solid and have a nice fit. I usually like a little more padding on the knuckles for more aggressive riding through trees, but these should breathe really well. I will wait and see how these hold up.

For those wondering about the fit, I measured the length from the bottom of my palm to the top of my middle finger and chose accordingly from the sizing chart.

Props to Backcounty.com for their amazing customer service: shipped the night of order and delivered a day ahead of schedule. Just awesome.

Update -- after only a season these gloves are starting to fall apart. Love them while they lasted but I hate buying throw-away gear...

Strange sizing

The fingers are skinny and long. I were a medium glove in other Fox gloves but these were small with long fingers.

I'm confused, it says hand length, and the Fox site even shows measuring from the middle finger tip, but then it talks about measuring around the hand, like circumference? Which is it??

Hi Lance, that's the problem, the Fox website says the same thing. They have the explanation to measure around the hand, but then the graphics shows to measure hand length. So still confusing!

Most Durable Glove I've Ever Ridden

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought a pair of these about four years ago and have finally beat them to submission. These are hands down the best gloves I have ever ridden. Once they break in, no other glove will come close to the level of comfort that these provide. They are light and breathable yet durable enough to withstand years of falls and abuse. The Large fits me perfectly. There is a little bit of padding on the palm but if you are looking for a glove with a lot of cushion these are not the glove for you. However if you need a glove that will put up with you flying over your handle bars and flipping your bike and still be incredibly comfortable. These are what you need. If you have any questions about it feel free to give me a call.

Here is my contact information: My direct line 801.736.6396 ex. 4389. Feel free call to me anytime, I?m always happy to talk about bikes or gear or the weather. Whatever works! I?m here Mon, Tues and Friday 1:30-10pm MST and Saturday 9-5:30 as well as Sunday 10-7. I look forward to speaking with you.

Good so far

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am a novice mountain biker but these gloves have been working great for me so far. The fit is good, and they seem to give good protection against bumps and scrapes and keep me from getting any blisters.
