Limited Edition for unlimited riding.

Always keen to keep its customers fast, functional, and fashion-forward, Fox is putting out a run of hot colors for its Demo FR Limited Edition Bike Shorts. It's the same slick tech as the standard shorts, but kicked up several notches in their ability to grab eyeballs.

Being a So-Cal brand, Fox knows a thing or two about hot summer riding, which you'll find nicely represented in the Demo FR (for "freeride") shorts. To keep you cool, quick-dry polyester construction in the main body teams up with stretch mesh paneling. This design lets air flow, and it encourages perspiration to evaporate. These two fabrics are also designed to permit movement through four-way stretch, meaning you're able to pedal — standing or sitting — without binding.

To hold the Demo FR shorts in place, Fox Racing forgoes the traditional button closure for a durable ratcheting system. This closure is tied to a wide, semi-elastic waistband, eliminating popped buttons at the most inopportune moments. The waistband is also free from those seams and belt loops that often snag a hydration pack's lower strap. These details are a sure sign Fox Racing listens to its riders when developing gear, which is also apparent in the pocket placement on the Demo FR. Items stashed in these side-located zipped pockets aren’t going to inhibit your pedal stroke.

The Fox Racing Demo FR Limited Edition Shorts are available in even-numbered sizes from 30 to 38, and in the colors White, Red Cardinal, and Day Glo Green.

Unanswered Question

Do these have a seat pad built in?

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:True to size

Size 36 fits perfect true to size. I'm 6'2" 205lbs 34" inseam, shorts end at my knee cap. the ratchet closure is genious! First ride this AM at Whting Ranch. They don't ride down never had to adjust them. Overall, excellent design material fit and finish. I'm not saying they are hot but would go to lighter vented wieght shorts for long hot rides.

Can't ride without these.

I purchased the white 34 because it was all they had, usually a 32. A little loose but holds up fine with the buckle strapped all the way in. I love these shorts. I've crashed in these about.... 6 times already and it is holding up great.

Innovative mountain biking shorts

These are really great shorts. As other reviewers have mentioned, the buckle system is light years ahead of the competitors. The material, zippers and overall construction of the shorts seem very high quality. I've taken them mountain biking and on a spring touring mission or two (thanks to global warming). I like the layout of the pockets and the length is good. For the price, they should have really come with a chamois, but that's a minor drawback. They look great and they seem to hold up to abuse well. I hope to use these for years to come.

Fantastic mountain biking shorts

These are extremely durable and comfortable shorts. The buckle for the waist is an amazing addition to these shorts. These are the best mountain biking shorts I have ever used.

Max, I saw that you purchased a 34. I'm 6'1'', 185. I usually wear a 33 inch waist for jeans. Would the 34 be the right size? Or should I go 36?

I wear 32/33 inch waist pants and the 34's in these shorts fit me with the adjustable strap tightened all the way. A 34 will probably fit you; I don't think the 36 will be able to get snug enough to stay on.

Best shorts I have found

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I want long length mountain shorts for xc and all mountain. I have tried many models and this is the only so far I have found that fits the bill. The closing buckle is light years ahead of other offerings with velcro adjustments on the side. Its light, simple, works great and stays put. Material is light and excellent for general trail riding. If you are a long legged rider looking for extra coverage, this the short you want. Only downside is that that dont come with a chamois so you will have to use your road bibs. The fit is a touch smaller than offerings from other big brands.
