The Fi'zi:k Tundra 2 saddle with 7x9 Carbon Rails is designed with XC racing and top performance in mind. This saddle features carbon construction -- including carbon braided rails -- and Fi'zi:k's shell shape optimized for 'Snake' riders.
Fi'zi:k uses a unique way to divide its saddles into three shapes designed for varying flexibility. They call this Spine Concept. And Fi'zi:k refers to each level of flexibility as Snake, Chameleon, and Bull; with the serpent being the most limber and the ox intended for muscular riders.
If you can easily touch your toes, then the Snake would be your ideal saddle shape; if toe touching is as out of reach as a World Cup podium, then a Bull saddle will support best. Right in between the two is the Chameleon profile. The Tundra 2's Snake profile is narrower, and intended for riders that naturally position the sit bones so they receive the most weight.
This is perfect for XC racing, and so is the light and strong Carbon Braided rails. The weave is filled with unidirectional fibers for added strength and trail-tuned dampening while enabling Fi'zi:k to keep the Tundra 2 under 160 grams. Also adding to lightness, fit, and chatter-filtering capability is a nylon shell that's reinforced with carbon.
The shell's carbon nose and rear portion, where your sit bones reside, are constructed from carbon fiber. This keeps weight low, yet provides a solid platform where necessary. Surrounding and in-between those pieces is a flexible nylon. The shell is covered with a microtex fabric that's durable and easy to clean. It's lightly padded because of the shell and rail's ability to dampen and support.
