Tritone 5.5 Saddle - K:ium Rails

At first blush, it's easy to write saddles off as having nothing to do with aerodynamics, but the saddle is one of two contact points that ultimately determine your posture on the bike. Fi'zi:k designed the Tritone 5.5 K:ium Saddle to get you lower and present less surface to the wind by letting you comfortably and confidently rotate your hips forward toward that sweet spot of around 15 degrees. This flattens your back and reduces your drag coefficient.

Aerodynamics are appreciated, but the gains made can be quickly negated if you're not comfortable. The Tritone addresses this concern with the usual strategically varied foam density and an indentation that gradually increases toward the saddle's blunt nose. This means that, even when you're draped over the aerobars, the Tritone keeps the pressure on your sit bones, not on the sensitive tissues that you'd rather protect. The 85 millimeter rails mean you can precisely dial your fit, another huge comfort advantage over other saddles with shorter rails.

Those long rails on this version of the Tritone 5.5 are made from K:ium, which is a combination of jealously guarded proprietary technologies. K:ium rails comprise a lightweight, strong alloy that incorporates silicon, a tubular body, and a finishing process that involves chromium to produce a rail that's as durable as it is aesthetically pleasing — all while enjoying a claimed 8% reduction in weight over solid titanium.

The shell is nylon reinforced with carbon fiber, making it lightweight but still stiff enough that you won't be bouncing around. The fabric is a Thermowelded Microtex, which means that the seams aren't sewn; rather, they're combined with heat and pressure in order to create a waterproof and airtight seal. Silicone stripes on the saddle's face increase grip, so you won't be sliding around and constantly repositioning yourself a la the youngest Schleck in a time trial.

A Front Transition Hook under the saddle's front makes up for the lack of a long nose for a fast grab-and-go during T1. The carriage kit hanging off the back is similar to Fi'zi:k's saddle bag option on road saddles, letting you easily attach two bottle cages, CO2, an inflator device, and a spare tube. The saddle is a UCI legal 24 centimeters long.

The Fi'zi:k Tritone 5.5 K:ium Saddle is available in the colors Black/red and Black/white.
