Description

Touch points are Fi'zi:k's area of expertise, so it's not surprising that the Italian brand has yet again put forth a new line of bar tape that keeps you supported and your ride looking sharp. For those looking for slightly more cushioning than what's provided by the famous stripped-down Superlight Tape, the Performance Bar Tape is the answer.

Made with the tried-and-proven Microtex synthetic material, the Performance Bar Tape features 3mm of foam-cushioned support. Those familiar with Fi'zi:k's Dual Tape will see a resemblance in this version, as its stitched channel along the border provides an added shock-absorbing layer.

The tacky Microtex material provides a sure grip with either gloved or bare hands, and its durable composition stands up to the abuse of sun, sweat, and countless hours of road time that undoubtedly awaits you this coming season. This perforated microfiber material also breathes exceptionally well, meaning that it'll stay drier and more comfortable than many other synthetic tapes out there.

The Fi'zi:k Performance Bar Tape is available in the colors Apple Green, Black, Metal Blue, Orange, Pink, Red, Soft Touch - Black, Soft Touch - White, Tacky - Black, Tacky - White, White, and Yellow. Two rolls and two bar-end finishing plugs are included in each package.

  • Two finishes for Soft or Tacky bars
  • Durable, washable Microtex synthetic fiber
  • 3mm of cushy padding

Pleasantly surprised!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm using this on my CX bike and really only ordered it because I built up a new bike here and my old favorite tape wasn't available. I say "old favorite" because this is definitely my new favorite! I got "Tacky Black". I wanted something that'd be soft and grippy without feeling like I was putting my hands on some gross sticky goo—and that's exactly what I got. It's really grippy and doesn't feel weird. You won't actually feel it pulling on your skin on hot days, but it'll still be grippy in the cold.

Soft Touch, Oh So Good

(Soft Touch 3mm) Great tape. Installs nice and clean. Feels and performs well on the hands.

Love this tape

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is what I use on my race bike and I probably should put it on my beater bike as well. Bar tape comes in all kinds of thickness. This one is thin and really helps with having a secure grip on the bars. It installs easily and stretches out for a nice, clean, tight fit.

Vibration and numb hands aren't a problem at all, though much of the reason for that is probably a function of having a professional bike fit (i.e., hand problems usually occur because too much weight is on the hands rather than the other contact points). Thick tape can't offset a bad fit. But if you've been properly fitted and appreciate a clean look and the feel of control, get this bar tape with no worries.

The Tacky tape is all I will use now

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I am a tape snob. I have removed several brands of tape after a day or two use as there is so much junk out there. No longer will I waste my time. The Performance tape is all I will consider using. Specifically the tacky black tape is my go to.

Why I love it.
1. Stretches evenly and installs nice.
2. Has the perfect amount of grip and is secure to use without gloves even with sweaty hands.
3. Lasts for a full year of heavy use. Years of moderate use. To bad it outlasts my cables or I wouldn't ever have to change it.
4. Perfect amount of padding for comfort. If you are a minimalist use the super-light tape.
5. Looks timeless with the black on black combination.

Great tape with just enough padding

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have been using this tape for a little while on alum bars. Just enough padding to take some of the bite out of bumps and chip seal. I do not like a lot of padding on my bars, and this was a nice compromise for my "beater" bike. Prefer the super light version of this tape on my race bike.
