Every ride starts with the tape.

Fizik's Performance Bar Tape comes in two distinct flavors: Soft and Tacky. Soft is a standard microfiber feel, which is pleasant enough to handle bare hands for hours on end without complaint. Tacky is fashionably grippy with a :k tread pattern to keep your hands or gloves glued to the bars — even when conditions are less than favorable. Regardless of which finish you choose, the Performance tape brings 3mm of dense-yet-forgiving comfort to your bars.

  • Two finishes for Soft or Tacky bars
  • Durable, washable Microtex synthetic fiber
  • 3mm of cushy padding

Meh

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Definitely has a classier feel than foam or cork tapes, but it gets kinda slick when my hands are sweaty (no gloves). Pretty sure I'll go back to Deda foam.

Comfy and durable

Awesome bar tape. Easy to clean and looks great, with just enough padding to reduce vibrations without sacrificing road feel. I have the regular (not tacky or soft touch) version on both my cross and road bikes, and it's held up remarkably well to all manner of weather and ride conditions.

Comfy and durable

So I have to comment on the pic: shoes without booties and snow?!?!?! Crazy!

Second Time's a Charm!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the second time I have replaced my bar tape with Soft-Touch. It lasts about a year and a half and it looks and feels great. I use it on my road bike and it provides just the right amount of padding without numbing road feel. The best!!

White bar tape that lasts!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been using this bar tape for the last couple years and it is great. It wipes clean again and again, even if I get grease and road grime on it. It feels tacky with wet hands/gloves yet your hands flow overit without being too sticky. I recommend to anyone wanting a "pro" bike look that lasts.

Pleasantly surprised!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm using this on my CX bike and really only ordered it because I built up a new bike here and my old favorite tape wasn't available. I say "old favorite" because this is definitely my new favorite! I got "Tacky Black". I wanted something that'd be soft and grippy without feeling like I was putting my hands on some gross sticky goo—and that's exactly what I got. It's really grippy and doesn't feel weird. You won't actually feel it pulling on your skin on hot days, but it'll still be grippy in the cold.

Love this tape

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is what I use on my race bike and I probably should put it on my beater bike as well. Bar tape comes in all kinds of thickness. This one is thin and really helps with having a secure grip on the bars. It installs easily and stretches out for a nice, clean, tight fit.

Vibration and numb hands aren't a problem at all, though much of the reason for that is probably a function of having a professional bike fit (i.e., hand problems usually occur because too much weight is on the hands rather than the other contact points). Thick tape can't offset a bad fit. But if you've been properly fitted and appreciate a clean look and the feel of control, get this bar tape with no worries.

The Tacky tape is all I will use now

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I am a tape snob. I have removed several brands of tape after a day or two use as there is so much junk out there. No longer will I waste my time. The Performance tape is all I will consider using. Specifically the tacky black tape is my go to.

Why I love it.

1. Stretches evenly and installs nice.

2. Has the perfect amount of grip and is secure to use without gloves even with sweaty hands.

3. Lasts for a full year of heavy use. Years of moderate use. To bad it outlasts my cables or I wouldn't ever have to change it.

4. Perfect amount of padding for comfort. If you are a minimalist use the super-light tape.

5. Looks timeless with the black on black combination.

Great tape with just enough padding

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have been using this tape for a little while on alum bars. Just enough padding to take some of the bite out of bumps and chip seal. I do not like a lot of padding on my bars, and this was a nice compromise for my "beater" bike. Prefer the super light version of this tape on my race bike.
