Gobi XM - k:ium Rails

Toe touching is something that haunts custom frame builders and once tormented early 29er designs -- it's a slang term for toe-overlap with the front wheel. It's also something that can determine your limberness and which Fi'zi:k saddle will fit your body best. The Gobi XM with k:ium Rails is designed with medium flexibility in mind, and all-day, big-mountain adventures.

Fi'zi:k calls this Spine Concept, and refers to each level of flexibility as Snake, Chameleon, and Bull; with the serpent being the most limber and the ox intended for muscular riders. The Gobi XM falls into the Chameleon category.

If you can easily touch your toes, then the Snake would be your ideal saddle shape; if toe touching is as out of reach as a World Cup podium, then the Bull designated saddles will support best. Right in between the two is the Chameleon profile. The wings are a bit wider at the sit bones, but they're still narrow enough for you to easily maneuver fore, aft, and side-to-side for unrestrictive, instinctive movement while riding.

This is perfect for XC racing and trail riding alike, and so are the proprietary k:ium rails it's a combination of metal alloys, and a specific tubular design increases fatigue performance. The result is rails that are lighter than solid titanium and an incredibly high strength-to-weight ratio. Which enables Fi'zi:k to keep this Gobi XN under 220 grams. Also adding to lightness, fit, and chatter-filtering capability is the nylon shell that's reinforced with carbon.

The shell's carbon nose and rear portion, where your sit bones reside, are constructed from carbon fiber. This keeps weight low, yet provides a solid platform where necessary. Surrounding and in-between those pieces is a flexible nylon. This forms what Fi'z:k calls Wing Flex.

Wing Flex allows riders of varying pelvis and thigh shapes to find a comfortable position on the Gobi for a custom fit. It also assures pedaling is as unrestrictive as possible. The shell is covered with a microtex fabric that's durable and easy to clean. It's lightly padded because of the shell and rail's ability to dampen and support.
