Cyrano Carbon Seatpost

The Fizik Cyrano Carbon Seatpost shares many design features with its alloy predecessor. The one major difference is that this one uses carbon fiber for the seatpost shaft, bonded to the same ingenious clamp assembly. Our love of the Cyrano design is twofold. First, it offers greater support for the saddle rails. Secondly, it's super easy to make ultra-fine tilt adjustments to the saddle to dial-in a perfect fit.

There are two critical elements to its functionality. The lower half of the clamp assembly is 45.5mm long. This means the bottom of the saddle rails are supported for this entire distance, distributing loads over a much greater area thus making rail breakage almost impossible and reducing clamping force in comparison to other seatposts. The second key element is the thumb-wheel micro adjusting mechanism in front. This little steel wheel is easy enough to reach with the saddle in place and is attached to the front clamp bolt. With little or no tension on the rear clamp bolt, you spin this up or down to "set" the tilt angle, then using the rear bolt to clamp it firmly in place. There are no teeth to engage as on many seatpost clamps.

The Cyrano Seatpost is also reversible. So it can be run with the clamp in front for those who want a forward time trial position or with the clamp in back for a more traditional road position. The post has 25mm of clamp offset. The clamp is designed to work with all modern seat rails. It can accommodate traditional round rails as well as Fizik's 7x9 ovalized braided carbon rails and other manufacturers' oval rails that are up to 10.3mm tall. It has also been designed so you don't have to disassemble the post before installing or removing a saddle.

The carbon shaft drops 20 grams from the 3D forged alloy version. There are graduated marks on the back of the post so you can keep track of your saddle height should you remove the post. They've also finished the bottom of the post on a bias that makes it easier to install.

The Fizik Cyrano Carbon Seatpost has a clearcoated carbon fiber shaft. The lower half of the clamp assembly is anodized silver while the top is matte black. It comes with a silicone ring for marking your post height. The Cyrano Carbon Seatpost comes in 27.2mm and 31.6mm diameters. Both sizes are available in two lengths -- 270mm and 400mm.
