Fi'zi:k Antares R3 Braided Saddle $240.00
Support where you need it
Fi'zi:k's Antares R3 Braided Saddle lives in a third dimension. No, really. It is the third 'A' between Fi'zi:k's Aliante and Arione saddles and it embodies comfort, flexibility, and an out-of-this-world lightness. Contrary to popular belief, a stiffer saddle is more comfortable than a highly padded one for long, grinding, lung busting rides. If you've spent any time on a spin bike at the gym, we're sure you'll agree.
The Antares was designed for the highly flexible rider who shifts positioning like a chameleon changes colors. The flat profile combines with a slightly rounded transverse section combine to create a shape that you can move around on easily while still maintaining optimal positioning to maximize power to the pedals. The shell is fiberglass thermoplastic composite sheets which sandwich a layer of foam. This provides the stiffness necessary to support sit bones while also allowing flex at the edges to reduce chafing. Fi'zi:k's Wingflex technology, which allows the sides of the saddle to move with your legs while keeping the top rigid means that you'll transfer all your power to the pedals not to the saddle. The entire length of the Antares is covered in microtex fabric.
The weight savings on the Antares R3 is predominantly noticeable in the rails. Constructed from braided carbon fiber, they make for a 30g savings over the K:ium rails, which equates to 20% of the saddle's overall weight. The rails are made from braided carbon and then wrapped with another layer of carbon fiber cloth for even greater durability. They also have a rough surface for easy clamping. Another design feature for adding strength to the rails is the oval shaping — 9mm tall by 7mm wide. And yes, they are durable enough for everyday use.
The Fi'zi:k Antares saddle weighs in at 155grams. It is 274mm long and 142mm wide. It is available in Red/white and Black/black.
