Fi'zi:k's Antares Saddle with 7x9 Braided Rails is intended for medium flexibility riders -- what Fi'zi:k refers to as 'Chameleon.' Don't be offended, Fi'zi:k divides its saddles into three design shapes for varying flexibility. Including the aforementioned, a snake and a bull round out what Fi'zi:k calls its Spine Concept.
Let's break down what this concept actually means. At the top of the heap, the serpent is designated for the most limber and the ox is intended for muscular, power riders like Greipel. So which is for you? Well, if you can easily touch your toes, then the Snake is your ideal saddle shape. However, if toe touching is as out of reach as a podium finish at the Tour, then a Bull designated saddle will support you best. And for those of right in the middle of these two profiles, your adaptability sets you into the Chameleon territory of the Antares.
The Antares' Chameleon profile is semi-narrow, and intended for riders who instinctively manage the body's position and weight over the saddle. This shape is perfect for competitive and recreational riders alike, as the shell is constructed from a forgiving, yet supportive, carbon-reinforced Rilsan. Extending this characteristic, the shell is lightly padded, covered with Fi'zi:k's durable Microtex fabric, and is supported by Fi'zi:k's Braided Carbon rails. The weave is filled with unidirectional fibers for added strength and road-tuned dampening, while also enabling Fi'zi:k to keep this Antares securely under the 160 grams mark.
The Fi'zi:k Antares with Braided Rails is 274mm long, 142mm wide, and available in the color Red. Please not that it is also compatible with Fi'zi:k's line of Integrated Clip System products.
