Former World Champion and World Cup winner Greg Minnaar asked Five Ten to build him some new shoes. The Five Ten Minnaar Shoe is the result. It's an SPD-compatible shoe that works as well on the mountain as it does at the local taco joint. No matter the venue, the black and white styling looks sharp.

The Minnaar Shoe has a Five Ten Stealth rubber sole. Only this time, it's not black as we'd expect, but red. Not to worry, it's just as sticky and you can expect secure traction on flat pedals. One of the inherent qualities of Five Ten rubber is the durability. No other rubber out there is as sticky and lasts as long against the offenses of the gnarly traction pins on your pedals. If you plan to use the Minnaar Shoe with SPD-style pedals, you'll simply need to remove the cleat pocket cover and replace it with your cleat, clip in and go. The Minnaars have a stiff enough midsole to complement the additional performance of clipless pedals.

The uppers are a combo of black and white action leather. All of the seams are double stitched for durability. And we really like that the lace eyelets have metal grommets. This means they'll lace up more easily, and tensioning the shoe before a downhill run is quicker and more thorough down the forefoot. To top it all off, a Velcro strap is used to secure the midfoot, and it keeps the laces under control and out of your chain.

The Five Ten Minnaar Shoe is Black and White and comes in half sizes from men's 6 through 12, with a full size jump to 13 and another to 14.

Simply Amazing

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

These shoes are extremely comfortable and look great. The option to use cleats or not is great because the soles are grippy enough to use with flats. I was done riding my Sidi Dominator's (great XC shoes btw) and wanted a more all around shoe. I saw these and have no regrets. They actually make me feel more stable and more confident on the bike. They are a bit on the heavier side but it's totally worth it.

Love These Shoes

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I've ridden these shoes for the past year and I love them. The soles are very stiff and they have a good power transfer. My favorite part about these shoes is that the cleat is well protected and the flat soles make it very easy to walk over technical terrain or through the grocery store. They do run a tad large. I bought a 10.5 (my normal shoe size) and my foot floats around just a little bit. I would have rather gone half a size down. These shoes are great for enduro riding or in places like Moab where sooner or later you will need to walk your bike. For longer XC rides they might be a tad heavy. If you have any questions about these or any other shoes please give me a call and I will be happy to talk to you about them.

Here is my contact information: My direct line 801.736.6396 ex. 4389. Feel free call to me anytime, I?m always happy to talk about bikes or gear or the weather. Whatever works! Not your typical bike shoe!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I have used these shoes for a couple seasons now. They are quite stiff and feel very solid when riding through rough terrain. Most people don't even realize that they have cleats (which I like :) The one drawback is that they are quite heavy. I am planning to find another shoe for longer XC rides.

Good shoe

I am a five ten fan and these shoes are pretty sweet. They are stiff but still flexable enough for wearing around town if you remove the clips. I like that you have the option to install the clips or not, it makes these alot more versitile. Also they look nice, I'm not a spandex jockey and it seems like most of the clipless shoes are designed to been worn with a skin tight man-a-tard. Thumbs up to Five Ten for another great pair of shoes.

On a side note, they are a little on the wide side for most peddles cleats. So be aware of that when mounting the clips.
