Description

No holds barred.

Five Ten's shoe for serious lady freeriders offers every feature in the book for zero-compromise downhill performance. The Impact Karver combines Five Ten's sticky rubber sole, an Action leather upper, mesh venting panels and Slingshot construction for an unmatched combination of freeride performance and comfort.

The Impact Karver has a Five Ten Stealth rubber sole. Stealth rubber gives you tons of grip so your feet stay firmly planted on the pedals. This soft rubber compound also provides grip when you're off the bike scrambling up a sketchy section, and is extremely durable. No other rubber out there is as sticky and lasts as long against the offenses of the gnarly traction pins on your pedals. Five Ten also gave the Impact Karver a compression-molded polyurethane midsole to absorb vibration and impact to reduce fatigue.

The Impact Karver's upper is burly, abrasion-resistant leather upper that holds up to season-after-season of ridiculous off-road abuse. Mesh panels on both sides of the shoe promote cooling airflow to keep your feet dry and comfortable while you ride. Slingshot construction at the heel locks the foot down for a secure, comfortable fit. This eliminates heel-lift, which causes hot spots and blisters. The mid-high collar adds protection and support without limiting range of motion. The Impact Karver also features barrel-lacing to prevent ‘lace-bite’ during long days in the saddle.

The Five Ten Women's Impact Karver comes in Ash Grey. It's available in whole and half sizes ranging from US 4-10.

They're growing on me!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

In my experience they do run small. I read the reviews that said to order a size bigger, and I ordered a half-size bigger and they are snug. They are very stiff around the ankle, and I'm also hopeful that they will loosen up and be more comfortable once they're broke in. At first I didn't like these shoes, but they're growing on me the more I wear them. The sole is very "grippy" and sticks to the flat pedal well. It is also very rigid and protetive - and gives your toes lots of comfortable space.

Stiff shoe

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I've been wearing my new MTB shoes for a half dozen times and I'm still breaking them in. I like how they perform: stick to the pedals, give me the stability and protection that I expect, but they are not comfortable. Their height and how stiff they are around the ankle is the main issue I have with them. I want that protection but I have to suffer quite a bit for it. I'm stubborn and they are feeling a bit better every time I wear them, so I have hope.

Awesome MTB shoes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I truly love these shoes- I have a 2012 pair, put about 2000 miles on them, and will probably need replacement in 2014. I haven't had any problems with the sole coming off like the other reviewer- the shoes are just getting too soft after a couple years. I have an average size 8 foot, and they fit true to size. The sticky climbing-shoe type rubber sole glues you to the pedal like you're wearing clipless (assuming you have flat pedals with pins for traction). And, the high inside padding of the shoe has protected my ankle many times. They are so comfortable, too. Highly recommend if you are using flat pedals.

Love hate relationship

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I LOVE 510s in general, this specific shoe however, has had some issues with the sole. I have friends with the same shoe who have had no problems but I am on my third pair in a year. The sole starts to peel off at the toe then down along the edges, my first pair the sole was flapping off all the way to the middle and I only had them 4 months. Kind of a bummer since I am a huge fan of their other products.
