Description

Designed for all-mountain and aggressive downhill racers alike, the Freerider Vxi builds on Five Ten's extensive flat-pedal expertise to give riders more float. To accomplish this, they developed a new tread pattern.

The new Contact outsole is treadless under the foot's ball to take the hassle out of repositioning your feet. If you've ever rode a set of Impacts, you know that once your foot is placed on the pedal, it's there to stay. That characteristic is ideal for security, but it quickly becomes an inconvenience when a foot is in the wrong place on the pedal and you're not able to move it. With the Freerider VXi, the smooth sole underneath your foot makes it easy to find the sweet spot.

For the uppers, Five Ten employed Action leather in high-wear areas in order to promote durability. Further along these lines, a brand new sole shape provides extra clearance between the upper and your crank arms, effectively increasing the shoes' longevity. To keep them comfortable, Five Ten applied mesh panels to toe and side panels. This creates positive airflow through the shoe, keeping feet cool, dry, and comfortable. And the low profile shape, mid-stiff sole, and slightly narrower fit make the Freerider VXi more versatile than a true downhill-oriented shoe like the Impact.

The Five Ten Freerider VXi Shoes are available in half sizes from 3-12, in whole sizes from 13 to 14, and in the colors Pewter and Ocean Depths.

Flying with FIve Ten

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I love the VXI's! I use them for skydiving and have super grip when stepping out on the camera step right before leaving the plane. The flat smooth soles work perfect on landing when sliding across the ground and the water resistance are great for that early morning wet dew.

All-Weather!!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

After a good number of years riding, hiking and climbing in the Impacts (from the first grey and yellow version!), I'm pretty psyched when a new version within the genre comes out. The Element VXi is a burly, sturdy shoe that can stand up to any kind of conditions on trail or mountain. The foot bed is a sturdy platform with a lot of surface area that grips flat pedals really well, the MI6 rubber is a new formula that's really durable and seems quite a bit stickier than any other. The leather is treated and is super water resistant, but your feet aren't overheating thanks to the mesh. The toe cap adds a little sense of protection through tight trees or rocky technical ground. My downhill standard.
