Description

See and be seen.

If you ride at night, there are times where you want to be seen, and there are times where you just want to see where you're going. An if you're running the Exposure Toro Mk5 Light, neither of those will be a problem. The Toro is essentially the MaXx-D's little brother, and 24 hour racing runs in the family. However, at around 232g for the light and mount, it's plenty lightweight for commuting as well. When you're ready to get after it, the Toro will ensure that you're able to keep your eyes on the prize.

The Toro Mk5 makes use of three Cree XPG LEDs, which put out a maximum output of around 1200 lumens. In case you're wondering, that makes it as bright as the high beams on most cars. At the maximum output settings, it will run for just over two hours. And for situations where output is less important than battery life, you're able to choose lower output settings, that'll boost the battery life as high as 36 hours. It affixes to the handlebars using Exposure's durable quick-release mount, which like the light body, is machined from billet aluminum. Its wedge design holds the light incredibly tight for an unbelievably secure interface. Best of all, the light and mount come in at a claimed weight of 232g, making the system light enough for both racing and commuting duties.

Like all Exposure lights, the Toro is built in the UK by committed riders. It employs the finest lithium ion batteries available for the longest possible service life. Same goes for the Cree LED's that illuminate the trail. This allows Exposure to offer a lifetime warranty on the LED's, in addition to the two year warranty on the rest of the light. There's also a display that shows you both the selected mode, which along with a five-step battery gauge, takes the guesswork out of operating your light. It's also helpful that the light charges using Exposure's Smart Port Technology, which enables you to piggyback a backup battery to improve upon the already impressive battery life.

Heatsinks are used in conjunction with an ITM (intelligent thermal management) program. It employs an integrated sensor to regulate the light's temperature, reducing voltage when needed. It's used to minimize heat buildup, since excess heat will actually cause the LEDs to dim. The ITM is customizable by the user, allowing you to choose between settings that maximize output, battery life, or to strike an ideal balance between the two. As you'd expect, the body is weatherproof, so it'll make it through a heavy downpour without a hiccup. And like all the Exposure lights that we carry, they ship with US chargers and are subject to US-based customer support — unlike Exposure lights sold overseas. In other words, you're not likely to have any issues, but if you do, you'll be taken care of by like-minded cyclists living on home turf.

The Exposure Toro Mk5 Light includes a quick-release handlebar mount and a Smart Charger. This light features an 8700 mAh Li-Ion battery, and it has a 115mm length, 44mm back diameter, and a 48mm head diameter.
