Your new 24 hour BFF.

24 hour racing requires serious visibility, that is if you want to put down safe, clean laps. And while a helmet mounted setup is all but essential, a high-output, handlebar-mounted light will really make the difference between seeing that hole in the trail and stuffing your front wheel into it. When it comes to handlebar-mounted lights, you'd be hard pressed to find one that combines the light weight and high-output of the Exposure MaXx-D Mk6 Light. With a maximum output of 1600 lumens, this puppy will light up the night like few others. So, whether you're racing at night, or just looking for the brightest setup around for commuting, you just found you new best friend.

Exposure's MaXx-D Mk6 light makes use of four Cree XPG LEDs, which put out a maximum output of 1600 lumens. For reference, that's brighter than the high beam on most cars. At the maximum output setting, it'll run for just over two hours. And for situations where output is less important than battery life, you're able to choose lower output settings to boost the battery life as high as 36 hours. It affixes to the handlebars using Exposure's durable quick-release mount, which like the light body, is machined from billet aluminum. Its wedge design maintains a firm hold on the light for an unbelievably secure interface. Best of all, the light and mount come in at a claimed weight of 292 grams, making this one of the very lightest setups in its class.

Like all Exposure lights, the MaXx-D is built in the UK by dedicated riders. It employs the finest lithium-ion batteries available in order to provide the longest possible lifespan. Same goes for the Cree LEDs that illuminate the trail. This allows Exposure to offer a lifetime warranty on the LED's, in addition to the two year warranty on the rest of the light. There's a display which shows you both the selected mode, and along with a five-step battery gauge, it takes the guesswork out of operating your light. It's also helpful that the light charges using Exposure's Smart Port Technology, which enables you to piggyback a backup battery to improve upon the already impressive battery life.

Heatsinks are used in conjunction with an ITM (intelligent thermal management) program. It employs an integrated sensor to regulate the light's temperature, reducing voltage when needed. It's used to minimize heat buildup, since excess heat will actually cause the LEDs to dim. The ITM is customizable by the user, allowing you to choose between settings that maximize output, battery life, or to strike a balance of the two. As you'd expect, the body is weatherproof, so it'll make it through a heavy downpour without a hiccup. And like all the Exposure lights we carry, they ship with US chargers and are subject to US-based customer support — unlike Exposure lights sold overseas. In other words, you're not likely to have any issues, but if you do, you'll be taken care of by like-minded cyclists living on home turf.

The Exposure MaXx-D Mk6 Light includes a quick-release handlebar mount and a Smart Charger. The light weighs around 292 grams and has a maximum output of 1600 lumens. The 11600 mAh lithium-ion battery last between 2 and 36 hours per charge. Lastly, the light measures 114mm in length, and it has a 49mm back diameter and a 57mm head diameter.
