What goes up, must come down.

Just as Ergon changed the way we look at bar grips, it has taken the saddle and redefined it. Using FEM analysis to map the load and stress areas, it optimized the shape for more shock absorption while providing ample sit bone support. The SME3 Pro Saddle was designed specifically for enduro mountain biking where you need a supportive platform for climbing that cushions enough to rail the downhills.

Constructed from carbon fiber with a thin, Y-flex shell, the SME3 was formed with three-dimensional pockets under the sit bone area. While the shell provides support so that your power is transferred into the pedals and not absorbed by an overly padded saddle, the pockets are filled with a highly elastic padding which absorbs bumps from the trail. Additionally, multi-layered cushioning places more padding where you need it and it has been directly correlated to the width of the saddle. Adding to the pressure relief in the saddle is a central channel that has been cut-away from the back and a nose-mounted micro-damper. The Tinox rails were rear mounted for added flex.

Designed in Germany, Ergon's saddle are manufactured by Selle Italia in Italy. To this end it features attention to details such as a chafe-reducing silicone coating on the outside edges of the saddle, and an underside rubber cushion for comfort while shouldering the bike. The cover of the SME3 is easy-to-clean Lorica micro-fiber.

The Ergon SME3 Pro Saddle is available in two sizes, Small and Medium. Generally a Small will fit a rider with a sit bone width of 90-110mm, while a Medium works for riders with 110-130mm wide sit bones. It is available in Black/blue, White, or Black.

Winging it

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Well, I hear good things and the Ergon name is known for comfort so I going to beat on this thing until one of breaks. Let the games begin

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

As a long time user of Specialized saddles on all of my bikes regardless of make, I had intended to put a Phenom on a new Niner XC build. Because of price and good reviews I decided to try the Ergon. Glad I did. I have a new favorite. Very comfortable and very light for the price. Helped me achieve my price/weight target for the build.

Solid Saddle

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Built up a new bike over the winter and went out on a limb and bought this saddle. I wanted to try something new and customize my sizing a little bit. I went with the medium based on my measurements as other reviews have mentioned. Once I got all the new bike tweaks out of the way and the saddle positioned where I needed it I realized I'd made a great decision on a comfortable, durable, and stylish saddle. Happy with my purchase and looking forward to many more miles of riding.

Awesome saddle!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've only used this saddle a few times, but right from the jump it was super comfortable. This is not a featherlight saddle for the weight weenies, but if you want a heavy duty saddle with ultra comfort, you can't go wrong with this seat.

I measured my sit bones and bought medium.
