Smarter, faster.

The Smart Enve System 6.7 Carbon Tubular Wheelset came about through the collaboration between Enve and Simon Smart, one of the most respected experts on aerodynamics in the world. And no scientist was ever more fortuitously named. Smart took the intuitive though previously untried approach of testing the aerodynamics of these wheels with popular bike frames and thereby optimizing them across a broad spectrum of conditions. What you'll get is a supremely aerodynamic deep-section wheelset that is rock-solid-stable even in gusty cross winds.

Enve intends the 6.7 Wheels to change perceptions about how a lightweight, deep-section wheelset is supposed to behave. This is largely due to recent design shifts, like making the rims wider for greater aerodynamic fluidity. Their innovations include giving the front wheel different width and depth dimensions than the rear wheel. For the Smart Enve System 6.7 the front wheel has a depth of 60mm while the rear is 70mm deep. Mixing and matching a shallow front with a deeper rear wheel is not a new notion. However, giving the front a 26mm width versus just 24mm for the rear is new. The rationale behind this has to do with the fact that the front and the rear wheels experience different drag as you ride. The idea is to have an integrated system with wheels that work within the structure of the frame and rider to optimize aerodynamic efficiency and stability.

Pro or novice, you need to have confidence in your wheels and your ability to control them in all wind conditions. Enve and Smart have managed this by developing a method by which they could measure steering torque in response to crosswinds. As a result of this testing, they have created a rim shape that never overreacts in the windiest situations. The center of pressure has been shifted towards the hub. Think of it as a lever on the steering axis -- the shorter the lever the better. This makes the 6.7 Wheels more stable in crosswinds and more predictable when it's gusty.

It's expected that aero wheels will help you go fast on your bike, but you might be surprised that these weigh equal to or less than many shallower, less aero wheelsets. Tipping the scales at a seriously competitive 1458 grams using DT Swiss 240 hubs and Sapim CX Ray stainless steel spokes, the 6.7 Carbon Tubular Wheelset will be your secret weapon. With 20 spokes in the front wheel and 24 in the rear, Enve has found the balance between weight savings and durability. And their rims are stronger than most because Enve has a patented process by which they mold the spoke holes into the laminate. Without post-cure drilling, they've reduced the possibility of rim breakage or pulled spokes. This means that they don't have to reinforce the spoke holes with extra material.

The Smart ENVE System 6.7 Carbon Tubular Wheelset has no rider weight limit. Enve recommends the use of their Grey Carbon Brake Pads to gain the best braking performance. They're available with Shimano/SRAM or Campagnolo compatible freehubs.

Note: The rims are covered under the 5 year manufacturer warranty. The hubs and spokes are not covered under the ENVE warranty. We are only able to ship to this product to addresses within the United States.
