ENVE Downhill Handlebar $175.00
The cream of the carbon crop.
Not too long ago, people were afraid that carbon fiber was too fragile for handlebars and stems. Some of the early designs were weak, some were just dangerous. Those days are over. Today, well-designed carbon fiber handlebars are the toughest on the planet. The Enve Downhill Handlebar is not only strong enough for huge jumps and drops, but it's light enough for XC racing.
The Downhill Bar was developed by riders for riders. Utilizing extensive feedback from the trail, the Downhill Bar design represents a perfect equilibrium between weight and strength. A mere 245 grams of impeccable carbon, the Downhill Bar is light enough for big climbs, yet durable enough for catching big air. At the same time, the extra-wide 31.5-inch-bar stance provides flexible comfort in the dirt, and the nine degree rearward sweep keeps your wrists in a relaxed, neutral position.
The Enve Downhill Handlebar is available in a 31.5 inch width. The Downhill Bar features a nine degree sweep and zero rise. This bar is available in the color Black, and is only compatible with 31.8mm clamp diameter stems. Every Downhill Bar is handmade in the USA.
What community has to say
Light and Stiff
Super wide bar allows for cutting to custom lengths for trail riding, or freeride, as well as a super wide option fro pure DH as the bar was designed for. ENVE does things right, especially with Carbon.
Bling AND Performance!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I have used a few different wider bars over the past few years, including Cromag flat's, Sunline 777 flats, and Renthal Fatbars, and the Enve bar is the best I have ridden. Not nearly as stiff as the Renthal, but extremely stiff and comfortable none the less. I will be buying another set for my next bike. The width is awesome for a DH bike, but cut down to 760-780mm makes for a perfect trail width bar. The sweep feels great, and these bars with some comfy grips prevent hand fatigue over long descents.
If you are looking for a strong durable DH bar that's going to provide some hand relief over the stiff metal bars on the market without sacrificing performance, look no further
i think you have the rise incorrect in...
i think you have the rise incorrect in that last paragraph. According to ENVE, these have 23 mm rise. Certainly don't look like a flat bar!
I put these on my Enduro, I cut them down to 760, 800 was just a bit too wide. The bars are amazing, they absorb tons of chatter and feel great on the trail. Not to mention that they are a work of art, the carbon is perfect, the design is simple and inspired. I am sure that I will be upgrading my the bars on my DH bike to these bars in the very near future.
Wow! An amazing handlebar
I wanted to a go a bit wider, but not quite to 800mm so I got these and cut them down to 760mm and after mounting them up, they are hands down the best bar I have ever ridden. I put them on my all mountain bike and will be getting a second pair for my DH bike.
I love the simple design and the weight is unbelievable, super light. They offer a great "feel" for the trail but don't transfer the jarring sensation of aluminum bars.
Are you conflicted? You want the lightness of carbon bars, but you're worried about them snapping and leaving you with a massive dental bill?
Look no further.
These bars perform like carbon bars with good vibration dampening and amazing lightness, but they're built to be bombproof. Note that ENVE calls them downhill bars because they're 800mm wide. They're marked for cutoffs, so you can make them whatever you want, with a few minutes, some masking tape, and a hacksaw. 750mm seems to be a sweet spot on my 29ers. Add in a short stem, grip it and rip it.
