While Competitive Cyclist's HQ in Utah has been enjoying unseasonably temperate conditions this winter, other parts of North America have been hit with the kind of snow you measure in feet. Suffice it to say, this isn't conducive to riding outside, and if you haven't already made a fitness contingency plan, then the Elite Power Fluid Trainer is your chance to get started on your season's goals.

With more than 800 watts of resistance — 100% more than standard fluid trainers — the Power Fluid is more than capable of simulating base miles or intervals. The wide steel frame is more than capable of absorbing as much power as you can dump into it while providing a stable base for miles of stationary spinning. The blocking mechanism fits quickly and securely for a trouble-free ride that you can disengage without resorting to power tools. Spring tensioning maintains the right level of resistance between the tire and the trainer.

The Power Fluid's elastogel rollers reduce noise by 50%, which your family, roommates, and/or neighbors will appreciate. We appreciate that the rollers also reduce tire wear by a claimed 20%, because — we admit it — our bikes often go onto the trainer still wearing the tires we ended the season on. If you're like us, and you don't always switch to a trainer-specific tire, then you'll be glad of this feature, too. It accommodates wheels from 600c to 700c, so you're set no matter what hoop diameter you're spinning. The whole frame folds flat so you can slide it under the bed, dresser, or prop it up in the closet when it's not in use.
