Say goodbye to the gooey mess.

Caffelatex Tubeless Conversion Kits supply everything you'll need to convert your regular wheels to tubeless. While the process to achieve a tubeless system is the same as we’ve done for years, the Caffelatex kit incorporates materials that save some time and trouble. The first detail that we saw and really liked was the rim tape. It's one tape that replaces the two that we've used in the past. Before, we'd apply a layer of fiberglass packing tape to cover the spoke holes and followed that up with a yellow sealant tape. The Caffelatex red tape is both products in one, and one layer is all you need to effectively seal off all the spoke holes in a regular rim. The roll included in the kit is enough to seal two wheels up to 29 inches.

The kit also contains two valve stems. They're nearly identical to our favorite valve stem, the Mavic UST, and will work perfectly in any rim, be it UST or tube-type. They've got a removable core so that you may use the Caffelatex sealant injector, which is included in the kit as well. The benefit of the injector is that it has graduated volumetric markings printed on the outside of the syringe tube so that you can add a precisely measured amount of sealant to each tire. The vinyl hose and threaded adaptor screw securely onto the valve stem once you've removed the presta core with the included core tool. Simply depress the plunger to fill the tire and you're done -- no messy sealant sloshed onto your floor.

As you ride, the Caffelatex Sealant goes to work. It has a foaming agent that acts as the tire bounces down the trail, effectively filling the tire with a sealing foam that can act in any location within the tire should a puncture occur. We've found this to be a real benefit for sidewall punctures, as they can be sealed as you ride. The other sealants we've used cannot do this as the liquid is concentrated under the tread. The Caffelatex also works just as well for regular punctures in the tread area of the tire. When you hear the dreaded psst, psst, psst as the tire rolls over, just keep on trucking. The Caffelatex will do the repair, up to 6mm. The sealant is ammonia-free and should not react harmfully with any rim or tire combination.

The Caffelatex Tubeless Conversion Kit includes a 250ml bottle of liquid sealant -- enough to set up two tires and have some left over for a repair or a third tire depending on the tire size. Choose between the Race -21mm kit that works for rims from 21 - 25mm wide or the HD - 25mm kit that works for rims from 25 - 28mm wide.

Stick with Stans

There was no Stans in stock so I figured I'd give this stuff a try, I assumed it would be the same as Stans. You know what they say about assumptions. Does not seal up very well and is extremely mess. I will not be buying this again.

I agree with the notion on Stan's being superior. Caffe latex setup a bit easier tubeless, holding air pressure, but couldn't plug up punctures very well, instead spewing out latex out of punctures and staining your gear with questionable looking "white stuff". Squirting it into tubes didn't produce much better results.

What is the difference between the regular one and the "heavy duty" one?

Comes in two different sizes: Race, which fits rim widths of 22 - 25mm and Heavy Duty, which fits rim widths of 25-28mm. Presta valve only.
