The Easton EA90 wheel series offers a little something for everyone. And whether you're looking with light weight or aerodynamics as your primary concern, you can find it without spending a ton of money. The Easton EA90 Aero Clincher Wheelset offers an aero mid-deep rim profile to cheat the wind. They're ideal for general purpose road racing, as they'll give you an advantage on the flats without hurting you on the climbs.
These wheels may look similar to the EA70, but upgrades change everything. Starting at the center, the anodized black R4 hubs are lighter and have a smoother, smaller shape. They also have a tool-free bearing preload adjustment on both wheels, upgraded bearings with hybrid seals, and axles that are made from 7050 aluminum. The 7050 aluminum freehub body has been aggressively machined as well, making it 22g lighter than the C3 cassette body on the EA70. Even the pawl carrier has been redesigned to be wider with a larger diameter to improve its ability to resist flex under high-torque loads.
The Gen4 rims are an upgrade as well. The rim joint is welded for strength, and they have a machined sidewall so you'll experience perfectly smooth braking. The 19mm wide rims are also of differing heights. The front rim, while still quite aero, is 28mm deep for better crosswind handling. The rear rim is 32mm deep for greater stiffness and best aerodynamics.
The Easton EA90 Aero Clincher Wheelset comes in 700c only. The bladed Sapim spokes are double-butted and pull straight from the hub without a traditional J-bend, making them stronger. They connect at the anodized black rims with black alloy nipples. The front wheel has 18 radially laced spokes while the 20 spoke rear is radial on the non-drive and cross-two on the drive. The freehub body is available configured for either Campagnolo or Shimano/SRAM. Quick releases and rim strips are included. Easton wheels are hand built and do not have rider weight limits.
