Here's what others have to say...

Is the wheelset 11speed compatible?

Best Answer

They sell a version with an XD Driver so yes it is.

Confusing, but awesome!

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

You can't find a better deal than these wheels right now! Light, durable and no weight limit that requires you to be a spandex wearing twig. I updated the stock wheelset on my Scott Spark and saved over 400 grams. It's a really noticeable difference.

As much as I love the wheels and the deal I got, I am writing this review so others have a heads up on the rear hub. If you aren't a bike mechanic but are the type that will at least get the wheels set up and mounted yourself you might run into a brick wall like I did when you try to mount these on a 12 x 142 thru axle bike. The bottom line is that the hubs are convertible to a 12 x 142 but they don't come this way out of the box. It is also confusing when you order them because it's not entirely clear what you are getting. Further compounding the problem, the wheels before 2013 were NOT convertible so there are more than a few posts online suggesting it can't be done.

After scratching my head for a few days and going back and forth with backcountry and almost returning the wheels, I took them to my LBS. I don't know precisely what they did, but my understanding is that there is a press fit end cap that simply needs to be popped off the rear hub on each side. It's a very simple thing, but all the mis-information out there makes it confusing.

Hopefully this helps someone along the way....

I just received the wheels. Same issue. My rear hub is set as a 15mm QR. They didn't come as a 142 thru-axle, despite I asked like twice through chat with competitive cyclist. What am I supposed to do now? Not too happy since I asked the staff to make sure they were ready 12x142. I have the end caps in the box to convert everything, but can this be done at home? what tools do I need? Please advise. Thank you

Does the hub body fit a shimano 10 speed cassette? Also, which checkout option is 10x135mm?

Unanswered Question

Hello, I am looking at the EASTON EA70 XCT 29IN WHEELSET. is there everything included to make it tubless out of the box?

also, How do I know what rear hub I will need. I have a standard QR on my mountain bike in the rear and a 15mm through axel in front.

Easton EA70 wheelset

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Bought this wheelset around a month ago, and so far, so good...around 100 miles and still true and rolling smooth...Bought a Nuke Proof 15mm to 9mm adapter (Amazon) to install on my fork, and it fit perfectly.

Is this wheelset tubeless ready?

Does the front hub come with a 9mm QR and end caps for 15mm as well?

I have the same problem, my front wheel has the 15mm and I need the 9mm, can I get this adaptor piece from Competitive Cyclist?

Rear hub is 12mm with scewer, and front hub is 15mm through axle. I installed on my bike using a Nuke Proof 15mm to 9mm adapter and scewer I found on Amazon.

Is the 15 Front /142 Rear checkout option the 15m thru axle for the front and 12x135/142mm thru-axle for the rear? It's not at all clear how the checkout options equate to the axle type specs.

Hey Dalai Lama,

The 15 front/142 rear is the Shimano/Sram 10 speed option that comes with a 15mm front thru axle and 12 x 135/142mm rear axle.

Does the rear hub come with both endcaps for 135 and 142 thru axle?

The rear hub comes with 10x135 ready out of the box and you also got the adapters for 12x142.
