We grew up with evidence of Easton's alloy-working genius in almost every facet of our sporting lives, and, now that we're grown, our toys still bear the Easton logo. Their latest offering is the Easton EA70 XC Low Rise, which continues one of the best-selling handlebar lines — mountain, road, or otherwise — that we've ever moved through our doors. Its secret to success lies in Easton's ability to highlight aluminum's best qualities while decreasing the impact of any negatives. One key element of the line's proven formula that Easton changed is the length. The new EA70 XC bar is now longer at 720 millimeters, giving more space for cockpit setup but still keeping the width down for navigating technical single track.
The bar is constructed with Easton's TaperWall technology, which strategically varies the thickness of the EA70 aluminum to bolster stress points like the clamping areas and improve ride quality while still saving weight overall. Easton proves their handlebars with the standard, hydraulically applied fatigue test and an alarmingly draconian-looking device that measures impact resistance. All of this comes in at an easily managed claimed weight of 290 grams.
The Easton EA70 XC Low Rise has a nine degree bend, a five degree upsweep, and a rise of 20 millimeters. It's available in the color Black.
