As you ride, Dumonde Tech Original Bicycle Chain Lubricant forms a low-friction plastic plating which bonds to the chain and drivetrain components. This allows your parts to last longer and run quieter than what you'd get from any other lubricant.

It comes in two concentrations. This Dumonde Tech Original is more viscous than the Lite, even though they have the same formulation. Not to worry if you normally use one or the other, the two Dumonde Tech Lube formulas are compatible and may be used interchangeably.

Dumonde Tech Original is more concentrated than the Lite and excels in the most challenging conditions. We use it on our mountain bikes and for the road bike when the road and weather conditions promise to be poor. A coating of the thicker Original is more durable than the Lite, so it generally requires less frequent applications.

To get the best results from Dumonde Tech Lubes, first degrease your chain and dry it thoroughly prior to the first application. This effectively primes the surface for the "plating" effect that makes the lube so successful. For the first application, we recommend putting one drop on each link to really aid the plating effect, wiping the excess from the chain after it has had time to work itself into the pins. When your chain begins to get noisy, it's time to reapply. Use soap and water to clean the chain prior to re-application -- strong solvents and degreasers will remove the protective plastic plating from the chain, putting you back at square one.

This Dumonde Tech Original Bicycle Chain Lube comes in a 4oz bottle that should last for 40 or so applications.

Here's what others have to say...

High Quality

I ride my mountain bike 2-4 times/week here in Park City. I try to clean it every week or so and reapply Dumonde to my chain afterwards to help keep everything in good shape. It works great and is reasonably priced.

Like the Whisper Jet

Butter those cogs up, son!

Great stuff if you're lazy like me.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This stuff has staying power. I can get a couple-three hundred miles on my road bike with nary a whisper from my chain. Works on my mountain bike too.

It does capture a fair amount of dust, so it gets dirty, but I find that it doesn't hang on to larger grit.

Simply The Best

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This lube is truly the best I've ever used. I never liked the wax type. Typical oil type lubes wash off too easy and create major build up. This is not too oily after wiped off and only needs to be re-lubed every 4 or 5 rides with a simple brush off in between. truly amazing. BTW, I ride mostly dry and dusty trails here in Southern California so I cannot speak to real wet weather climates.

Lasts long on long rides

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great lubricant and keeps a quiet running drive train. I use this on my mountain bike. It's hold up through long rides and in dry or wet weather. Just simply follow the directions on the bottle and you won't be disappointed.

great stuff--cheaper at moto shops

it goes for about $14 for 16 oz at motorcycle shops... I use it on my dirtbike too.

Responded on

The BHP motorcycle oil aint the same stuff and it's to thick. It's also $20 for the 16 oz bottle. Stay with what it's designed for to get the best performance.

Good Stuff

So far so good and no complaints yet! Definitely heavy duty stuff.

my Mtb loves it.

And I put my bikes through hell. Come next winter, I'm going to be very happy I picked up the heavier lube. Most lubes out there are too thin for a proper winter commute or trail, but this one looks like it will hold up.

Durable Wet conditions

Durable in wet conditions. I use this lube on my mtb and road bike when it is wet. It never gums up my chain and cleans with some brushing with soapy water. I also like the fact that the ingredients are environmentally sound and will not pollute the soil or water. If it is dry or I am lubing my road bike for dry conditions, I switch over to the Tech Lite Lube by Dumonde. Ride On

Thick and Sticky

Thick, sticky, excellent lubrication. I use this for wet days or really long rides because it lasts better than almost anything else on the market. Down side is that your chain is going to require frequent cleaning when you use this lube.

Dumonde Tech Original Bicycle Chain Lubrication

KC is right - it really does smell like blue cheese! As if that wasn't enough, it also keeps my chain quite and smooth. Unlike wax-based lubricants it does not seem to clump up and then flow poorly (a major pet peeve), so application is easy.

Not the right product for me!

Unfortunately, this lube gunked up my chain big time...I'm still pretty new to mountain biking...and was told for the type of climate I was riding in this is just NOT the chain lube for me (I live in a dry area, Utah). My buddies said this chain lube would be great in coastal and rainy climates with more humidity. So overall, I believe it was my ignorance of not knowing which chain lube to purchase than the product itself.

Responded on

Use the "Lite" and follow directions. Period.

I rock this juice in Utah and it works well. Maybe a bit too much lube left on the chain? Squirt and wipe.

Great Heavy Duty Lube

This is what we use here in our shop. If you plan on putting your chain through some abuse...this is great stuff. It is the thicker more heavy duty version of Dumonde's lube, and if your one that forgets to lube often, it is the product for you. Very comparable to Finish Line Wet Lube.

Responded on

It's not wet like "wet" lubes if you follow the instructions. It does make a difference.

oil

its the little things that help your bike go the long haul, and keeping your ish oiled is one of the biggest things you can do. I love this oil, a little gos a long way and has some lasting power.

5 5

awesome shit

never use anything else. I ride 4000+ miles per season, commute to work, race, and train. Using 1 4oz bottle between 5 bikes I've gotten over a year from it. Really, you wipe down your chain, apply, then forget it until it makes noise (just like the bottle says) and I get about 200 miles between applications.

best stuff on the market. It can be found for way cheaper though.

Slickity Slick

This stuff works great. Used White Lightning before and this is much better for dry dusty environments.

Your chain will love you.

Think about how the family dog's eyes light up when you give them a doggie treat. That is what your chain will be doing when you apply this lube to it! It goes on easy and keeps everything running as smooth as an ice skating ring after the Zamboni at the end of the 1st period of a hockey game.

Best lube on the market.

When this lube is applied properly it is the best lube I've ever tried. It's cleaner and lasts longer than the rest. Just like anything, read the directions and you'll be surprised by what you learn. They go into detail about application and other chain lube concepts. They might blow your mind! This stuff smells like blue cheese.

Yeah baby yeah!!
