Changed...for the better...
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Defeet changed my beloved Levitator Lites. Change doesn't always mean moving forward however. Look at Selle Italia, and the changes they made to the Flite saddle a few years ago. They ruined it...and forced many of us to become de facto hoarders of pre-06 Flite Ti saddles. No, I will not sell you one of mine!!
Ok, back to the socks.
The foot section of the Levitator Lites remains unchanged. Form fitting, plenty stretchy and light weight. They aren't padded, and are cool on the foot. No volume issues in tight shoes, which is a good thing.
The change came in the collar of the sock. You know, the tall part that covers your ankle?
The old Levitator socks had the problem of the collar stretching out, and becoming a bit droopy. It wasn't an immediate issue, as it only occurred after several dozen wears and washings.
The new collar is the same as the Cyclismo socks. Sort of a waffle fabric affair. Still light, still tall, but a bit tighter weave on the fabric, which leads to them staying where one put them.
They are also a bit more compressive too.
The 5" cuff is still profi, unless you have short legs. Let's face it...socks that touch the bottom of your calf are too tall!!
Defeet is the standard for cycling socks, regardless of the sock, or the manner in which one rides a bicycle.
And the fact that the socks are simple in both the design, and graphics, is also appealing.
I don't know if you are like me, but I don't own any socks other than cycling socks. Hell, I wore black cycling socks with my tux when I got married!
The fact that wearing the Levitator Lites with sneakers doesn't make one look like a goof is much appreciated!
