Great stuff!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

It seems weird to review bar tape, but I've got good reason. Some tape sucks. I mean SUCKS! Like Cinelli. It's just bad. Thin, too short, grabs cat hair from the neighbor's cat from 3 doors down. This stuff though - excellent. It's a great length, has a great feel, and that color. Wow!

First, the length. I don't know why some bar tape manufacturers think that we're going to tape 38cm bars without a single bit of overlap and all they're going to do is give us JUST that much tape. Thankfully, I had some leftover at the end! Yeah, a real amount too! I almost that I had messed up! But nah, there was just the right amount in the box to start with. Also, it didn't pull in hair, fuzz balls, dust bunnies or anything else while wrapping the bars. Also, for those weird bends where you almost have no choice but to create a little bubble or a bend, this stuff does a great job of folding over and getting out of the way without making a huge bump in your tape - you know, that bubble that starts to fester on you around mile 82 when you're doing everything you can to keep your mind from thinking about the searing pain in your loins?

The padding on this tape is also just right. It's not so thick as to make you think it's a hand diaper, but it's got a very nice, padded feel to it. It almost feels like a thick, leathery bandaid. Don't worry - I've gotten it wet and it doesn't feel like a wet bandaid that got stuck to you in a swimming pool, it just keeps a good, dense feel to it.

Now - the color. It's pretty awesome. I got the fluo orange to put on an all black and white setup that's been ninja'd out. This orange demands attention. It says, "I just broke out of prison and outfitted this here bike, so stay out of my way!" Cars notice you. Hell, NASA notices you. But it's great. Even thought it's bright, it's the right orange. Somehow it manages to NOT look like hunter's orange even though it's pretty much hunter's orange.

This is the first time I've wrapped my bars where I didn't cuss, frequently. It's also the first time I thought to myself "Hmmm...I gotta remember to buy this stuff the next time I wrap my bars."

Do yourself a favor - even if blinding colors aren't your bag (they have tame ones too), get this tape and be happy. If I can, a pic will follow.

Luvin' the neon green

I wanted a neon green to go with my purple Trek 5200. Ended up re-wrapping after I changed the AeroBars. Worked fine. It's tuff, resilient, and I like the little holes. So the color isn't everything, but it's the main thing in this instance. I give it a "way cool !"

Taped a glow stick to my bars

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I snagged the green bar tape for my fixed gear. This tape is bright! Insanely bright. It throws off a creepy green glow in my garage. It gets a little slick when your hands are sweaty and it might not be the best for long rides (because its not very plush) but for the price you can't beat it. The length was fine for me, I could have / should have double wrapped to make it a little more plush.

    Good tape, not long enough

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I love the color and the tape itself. Not high end plush, but comfy enough and seems like it will hold up. The only issue I have is that the tape is not long enough to comfortably wrap my bar with adequate overlap. I really had to use every last inch.

    Yellow Fluo!

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Whoa, put this on yesterday (yellow fluo) and it is everything I have dreamed of. Truly hi-viz, not some weak-sauce "bright yellow". The guy at the shop doing the wrapping was very impressed as well. FYI, Tape is thinner than your standard padded rubber tape - sort of a "leathery" feel .

    Bright, reaaaaal bright

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Great bar tape with a touch of that vintage look due to the perforations - reminds me of dad's old tennis racket. Not as padded as some bar tapes, but the color, oh dear lord the color! Bright is an understatement. The attached photo was taken with my dumbphone in a dimly lit room and it still glows like a Fukushima tuna.

You should write comedy. Reviews for at the very least. "still glows like a Fukushima tuna:" Brilliant! (pun intended).

    Shield your eyes...

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Glowing is a bit of an understatement for the orange. Flouro on EPO? Hi-Vis on hi-test? In all honesty, it's just as all Deda tape is...pretty good. Plenty long enough, even for double wrapped tops, and big hooks.

    As appearances go, it's insane.

When I wrapped the bars, I tried to get a picture to illustrate the color to some riding friends.

I used THREE different cameras. Two point and shoot, and our digital SLR. None took a shot worth a damn. The orange just KILLED the metering.

I guess I'm an early adopter in this town, as three of my ride partners have ordered it since seeing mine. Bandwagon jumpers...

Wish there was a hi-vis red, so I could throw it on the road bike too.

Between this tape, and my hi-vis socks, armwarmers, shoe covers, and helmet, I should be ok on the night rides.

If I get hit, they were trying...

    Shield your eyes...

    This tape is bright!

I put this tape on my wife's commuter. Her bars now appear to be glowing.
