The Packable Shell falls under De Marchi's "P1" grid rating, meaning that it provides lightweight protection from the elements. It was constructed using an ultra-light ripstop polyester, which is a durable material that effectively shields the body from wind and light rain. De Marchi utilized this fabric because it provides protection from the elements while still allowing your torso to breathe and avoid moisture overload. Its versatility is one reason it can be used either as a wind breaker on high-speed descents, a rain protector during flash storms in the summer, or even an extra layer to take along for winter rides, just in case.

The Packable Shell jacket has been anatomically designed to allow a layer underneath it, yet at the same time it's cut close enough to the body to prevent excess fabric from flapping in the wind. Elasticized hem and cuffs maintain a secure fit over your jersey, and the jacket's full-length zipper makes putting on and removing it while riding an easy task.
