Similar to De Marchi's Softshell Jacket, the main goal with its new 3 Season Jacket was to make an outer shell that would provide protection from the elements in a stretchy, streamlined, and detail-packed design. But the Italian apparel designers didn't stop there, as they employed advanced fabric technologies made by none other than Schoeller, which yielded a versatile new shell that adapts to changing riding climates. Because of this, the appropriately named 3 Season works to keep you comfortable and dry out there, regardless of the ever-changing weather conditions.

For the construction of the 3 Season, De Marchi used Schoeller's WB-formula fabric. This material uses what's known as C_change, which is a wind and waterproof membrane that reacts to changing temperatures. It accomplishes this through a composition that effectively blocks the wind and rain when necessary, while simultaneously allowing water vapor to escape to the outside. This is furthered by the use of Schoeller's 3XDRY technology, which makes fabrics water- and stain-repellent on the outside and water absorbent on the inside. On the outside, the fabric is finished with a water repellent treatment (hydrophobic), whereas on the fabric's inside it absorbs perspiration (hydrophilic). As a result, it reliably repels moisture from the outside.

The 3 Season Jacket was also made to provide maximum freedom of movement while riding. Its anatomical fit was made possible using pre-shaped fabric panels that closely follow the body while in motion. When sewn together, these panels form somewhat of a three dimensional shape on their own, mimicking the body before even reaching your shoulders. The result is a jacket that eliminates all unnecessary material, leading to the best fit possible.

De Marchi also spent considerable time focusing on the jacket's finishing details. You'll notice the jacket features a tall collar and subtle drop-tail hem, both of which work to provide added coverage from the elements. A small chest pocket and full-length zipper round out the front, and a single side-zip-access pocket lines the rear.

The De Marchi 3 Season Jacket is available in sizes X-Small to 3X-Large and in the color Black.

Here's what others have to say...

great material, but with bad design

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Motive to buy this jacket is because of the schoeller material it uses. It does always performs well, stretchy, breathable and waterproof. The whole jacket has really bad designs. Armpit is one, it always feels something near your armpit when putting jacket on and moving. The other thing is drop tail hem, which makes the front so short and back relatively long. And there are only two pockets and no hood.

But anyway, a great jacket overall, especially it is made in Italy.

Odd fit

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

Normally I wear a large in most things, but since DeMarchi's products tend to run small I ordered an XL. It fit great in every way except for the armpits. Any direction I moved my arms, the seams road right up into the armpits. Unfortunately this would have been far too uncomfortable for a rain jacket meant to be worn for long periods as opposed to something you just pull out for a quick shower.
