Ditch the towel.

Forget using a grungy old towel to protect your truck's tailgate next time you shuttle to the trail. Instead, grab the Dakine Trophy Pick-Up Pad for protection against scratches and dings. The Trophy Pick-Up Pad is decked out in wild, back-to-nature style that's unique to this particular colorway. In fact, this colorway is exclusive to Competitive Cyclist and Backcountry, ensuring you stand out when you pull up to the local trailhead.

Resting on the tailgate of your truck, this Pick-Up Pad is constructed from heavy-duty nylon, with 0.75-inch padding for a scratch-free tailgate. An easy-access flap makes dropping the tailgate a breeze, while three web cinch straps prevent it from shifting during transport.

Offered in two sizes, the Dakine Trophy Pick-Up Pad fits both mid- and full-sized trucks. The small works best with mid-sized trucks like the Frontier and Tacoma, and the large works best with full-sized trucks like the F-250 and Ram. Moreover, you'll find the small-sized pad holds up to five bikes, while the large holds up to seven bikes. Both sizes secure your trail bikes with adjustable hook-and-loop anchor straps for a scratch-free fit without shifting during transport.

How are bikes secured to the top of the pad? Are there built in Velcro loops like other Dakine pads? What is the inside material of the pad, any concerns about scratching the tailgate?

Best Answer

Yes there are straps to secure bikes. This is exactly like the original Dakine Pick Up Pad, only the unique print is different.

Happy Riding!

before i buy this, want some clarification. Does the large size have plain brown borders like the picture in one of the reviews?

The large size has the turkey coffee color boarders.

The print does not extend all the way to the sides on the large vs the small. If you check out Noah Singers review image you can see what the large looks like.

Hope this help.

Holds your trophy in style

The Dakine pick-up pad has set the bar for getting from the house to the mountain to the bar. This animal print pattern is available exclusively at Competitive Cyclist. I have the large and it fits my '12 Toyota Tundra perfectly. Beyond doing it's job of safely carrying up to 7 bikes I really like that you can secure the tailgate latch cover in the up position so that I can still use the back-up camera and not crush that gear I left behind the tailgate.

If Wes Anderson Mountain Biked...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

He'd have this pick up pad.
