Your friends may not care about your new truck, but you do.

Your buddies always make sure you drive to the trailhead—and unfortunately it’s not because they enjoy your company—but because you have the nicest truck. Unfortunately for you, your nice truck is taking a beating from all the bikes slung across the tailgate. The Dakine Pick-Up Pad is the best defense against chips and dings. Resting on the tailgate of your truck, the Pick-Up Pad is constructed from heavy-duty vinyl and .75-inch padding for a scratch-free tailgate—even around your friends. An access flap makes dropping the tailgate simple, while the three web cinch straps prevent the Pick-Up Pad from shifting during transport. The final touch is the reflective DaKine logo across the back for a bit of style and safety.

I bought this pad (size L) for a 2006 Toyota Tundra. It's a tight fit, but it works. :)

S is 54" [137 cm] wide
L is 62" [158 cm] wide

Just Get it

Simply put just get one. If you shuttle your bike a short ways or take it to epic locations this pad works great. I luv that I can leave it on and it doesn't take up anymore garage space. Really nice for sitting on the tailgate, however it does block my backup camera.

Tacoma Owners Heads Up

I made the mistake of thinking my (small truck) would use the small sized pad.... No Go. Make sure to order a large if your limping a Taco up the hill.

RE: Tacoma Owners: The L pad is a little big, it will overlap and obscure the tail lights about 2" on each side. I haven't tried the S yet and realize it wont cover the entire tailgate, but I probably won't get pulled over either.

The best way to haul bikes

It works great. It has enough padding to protect the gate from getting beat up. I dont even strap the bikes down, they stay put. Its awesome.

Dakine Pick-Up Pad

Definitely better than the previous incarnation that I owned a few years ago. Dakine has added padding, bumps on the ends to keep the bikes from falling over and a softer material that looks nicer to sit against the paint. Overall, it's worth the money since it's probably the most efficient way to transport multiple bikes. Significantly cheaper that a huge rack as well as not having bikes sticking out another 4 feet from the back of the truck. The only downside is loss of space in the bed, however, we seem to be able to fit 4 guys, bikes and gear for 4-5 day weekend trips no problem. Little cramped in the bed, but it works.

If you own a truck its a must buy...

I have been using this product for over a month now. Quick and easy to install and remove. I love how easy it is to transport my bike, lift it up and over and set it down and you done. Fits more bikes than my crew cab can fit people. Bikes stay in place over bumpy roads. If you have a truck with a tailgate this great way to transport your bike. Plus it looks cool.....
