Ready to rip.

A back-to-basics riding short, Dakine's Pace Shorts pack in all the comfort and performance of shorts that cost three times as much. Dakine built the shorts with a tough polyester and spandex fabric. Since nylon is already abrasion-resistant, Dakine was able to use a light 145-gram weave.

Reinforced stitching throughout key areas of stress ensure long wear, and a four-way stretch back panel and gusseted crotch add durability — as well as an unlimited range of motion. The Pace shorts come with front pockets to take care of valuables.

The Dakine Pace Shorts come in even sizes 30 to 40 and are available in Red, Blue, Camo, or Black.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

Here's what others have to say...

Lightweight, breath well,

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

Love these shorts. Breath well, decent fit. The fabric feels a bit flimsy if you were to take a massive digger. Would have liked the cut to be a bit longer in size medium.

A great lightweight, stretchy short.

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:True to size

I am 6'1" and about 190lbs. I usually wear size 33 waist jeans and pants and purchased the size 34 in black. I find them to be true to size, despite the other reviews, as they are a touch too big in the waist-I'll wear a thin Patagonia belt.

I didn't measure the inseam, but I find them to fall just above my knees, but nowhere near "short shorts" territory. I find them to be a flattering, "neutral" cut and they are fast becoming my "go-to" shorts for trail riding.

The styling is very low-key and I wouldn't hesitate to wear these off the trail as well because they don't necessarily look like mtb shorts.

Where these shorts really shine, is the nature of the material. It is light and stretchy and breathes very well. All in all, great shorts!

Snuggly fit but great short

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs small

These are are my favorite Dakine bike shorts but they do fit more snug compared to older Dakine short models. Normally I would fit a 32 but had to upsize to a 34 even while my waist size has shrunk over the last year.

Snuggly fit but great short

Like em but don't love em

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:Runs small

Probably should have bought one size larger, they fit pretty snug. Wish the inseam was a bit longer as well. If they fit better i would wear them all the time but since they don't I just wear them on the trails.

12 inch inseam, not 14

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
  • Fit:Runs small

Website description says it has a 14 inch inseam. I was do disappointed to get it and realize it only has a 12 inch inseam.

Other than that, the product has great quality.

Had to return it though because it was too short for my liking. Good thing, Backcountry has the best customer service. I was able to ship the item back at no cost.

Simple, stretchy, superduper.

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I've been rocking the Pace shorts for the past couple years because of their breathability & stretchtasticness. They end up serving as my go-to hiking/trail running/workout shorts due to their light weight and range of motion. I really dig them while on the bike because they won't get caught on anything...but this does come with a compromise: the inseam is short enough (14") that my knees are if you aren't confident enough to show your patellas off, you may prefer the 8Track or Descent shorts ;)

The lightweight material is also very quick to dry...bonus.
