Item # DAK000W

For hot summer riding, lightweight simplicity is the name of the game. When it designed the Concept Gloves, Dakine threw out all the bells and whistles in favor of a bare-bones approach to streamlined performance. This approach paid off — the result is flair-free summer fun.

The back of the Concept glove is ultra-breathable open mesh. Air flows freely through the gloves to keep your hands cool and comfortable. The palm is tough synthetic leather. It's not padded, so the trail is perfectly translated through the bars, increasing your level of bike control. There's also a touchscreen compatible index finger pad, so you can control your phone or MP3 player without removing your gloves.

The Dakine Concept Gloves come in sizes Small through X-Large and are available in Black, Camo, and Scuba.

thin but effective

These gloves are very light and thin but they still help a lot. definitely notice a difference when riding with these things on. My hands were less tired and they really made me feel like I was in control of my bike at all times.

    Simple & great

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

The break finger texture is awesome. Really funky looking gloves

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

keeps the grip in the sweat, saves the skin in a palm versus ground incident, no fussy velcro, easy on/off

    that's all you need.

I bought these gloves as commuter gloves and they have been perfect for that. I have never used them for mountain biking, but for a glove to use around town, they have been awesome. They have just enough padding to help soften some of the blows, but because the whole back side is ventilated, it doesn't even feel like you are wearing gloves.

Since I only use these for riding my fixie around, they don't see a lot of abnormal wear. I have had them for 3 months now and they still look brand new. No rips or tears. At first I wish they were a velcro closure, but being a slip-on they are extremely light and feel very comfortable.

I got them in the Camo color and they look just like the pictures. I have owned multiple pairs for Dakine gloves, and if you are looking for something light and ventilated, these are the perfect gloves for you.

    Thin is in

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these gloves as a spring skiing glove. Most spring ski gloves or park gloves have a tacky palm for better grip and a neoprene style material for the body of the glove. I wanted something different that was breathable, light and easy to use, so i bought these.

-These gloves slide on and off easily so I can quickly get into my pockets while I am skiing to change a song or grab a snack. These gloves are stretchy and form fitting as well so i often don't need to take them off to adjust.

-The touch screen capability through the glove works........ kinda. Sometimes i haft to work really hard to get my iPhone to work with the glove on, but normally I just take the glove off because its easier.

    - My favorite features are the snot wipe on the thumb and the mesh paneling around the fingers. I did not know this glove even had a snot wipe, but there is a soft panel on the top of the thumb that works as a wipe for whatever you need to wipe. The mesh on the fingers is great for getting some air flow into the glove when the temps rise to keep your hands dry and cool.

    - I took one star off the review because there are big tags on the inside of the glove that are stitched into the hem line;they are uncomfortable so i cut them off, seems like a waste to add something like that but they probably haft to include it for legal reasons or something like that.

These gloves are less durable but much cheaper then most gloves on the market with the same tech specs. I bought 2 pairs so when i blow out or lose the first pair I have a second on deck. I am picky about my gloves and these where better then expected, especially compared to some of the other mountain biking gloves. I totally recommend them and would buy them again.

    ol fashioned

lets get one thing straight, mtn bike gloves get beat up pretty quickly. that being said why would you want to be paying the oh so common high prices for gloves? if you wear gloves, they are the only thing between you and your bars/grips, I like mine thin, I like to feel the bike. no thick leather, no padding, just a glove to keep the sweat from getting slippery on the grips. these gloves for me are exactly what the doctor ordered. for how thin they are the material on the palm is durable.

      great glove. great price.

      Thin and Mean too!

I don't have to think twice!

I own 5 pairs of gloves, and this is the one I always grab.

Why? ...Because I just slide it on and ride!

4 rides and blown right thumb

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large

I use my gear, I take good care of it and I expect it to hold up. That being said, when I buy a super light weight pair of gloves, I'll hand wash and hang to dry. I think I have done this twice and I just noticed that the right hand thumb section has completely blown out... $20 or not, I feel that 4 rides is not a stressful test bed.
Maybe I need the XLarge and not the Large? Anyone else who has tried these have any comments?

** Just read the previous review about being cautious. Maybe this is what happens with thin gloves.
      Thank you,

4 rides and blown right thumb

Hi Greg, Is this due to an accident of some sort? This looks like a rip on the inner side of the thumb.

No accident on this one. They are just really thin. I still use them every ride, minus the "winter rides" in Texas.

Love how thin these gloves are, just don't hit any aspen trees with your knuckles. Sometimes they tend to split easily along the sew line between the thumb and the index finger.
