A match for your all-mountain style

Designed for the all-mountain enthusiast, the Dakine Boundary Short is not only tough, but lightweight as well. They keep you comfortable and reduce fatigue whether you're going uphill or down.

Dakine built the Boundary Short with tough nylon fabric. Since nylon is already abrasion-resistant, Dakine was able to use a light, 135-gram weave. Reinforced stitching throughout key areas of stress ensure long wear. A four-way stretch back panel and gusseted crotch add durability and an unlimited range of motion.

The Boundary short features zippered inner leg vents to help cool you down. A welded side pocket at the thigh takes care of your valuables, and interior waist adjustments allow you to dial in the perfect custom fit.

The Dakine Boundary Short comes in even sizes 30-38 and in the color Black.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

Here's what others have to say...

very thin, run small, and static fabric

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I read the review to size one up so I ordered 38 even though I'm 36. Was big but enough waist adjustment to make it fit (not sure if 36 would have worked though).
The big issue I have is that the fabric is paper thin, and worse builds up static as you move your legs (just tried them in the house, didn't ride) so the leg gets all wrinkling and rides up. It's going back... The Fox indicator (on sale as well for even less) has a MUCH better material liner that is soft and not static.

Very light weight, but tight.

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

The Positive: At 150 grams, these shorts are like wearing nothing at all. They vent very well for hot summer rides. I found a mistake in the description. "The Boundary short features zippered inner leg vents to help cool you down". The vents are permanent (not zippered), which is actually better in my opinion. No zippers equals less weight. I would wear something warmer before I wore these with the imaginary zippers closed. ;-)

The Negative: I thought I was ordering the shorts reviewed on out door gear lab, but these are a newer model with only one pocket. Also these do not come with a liner which I was pretty disappointed about. That's pretty much why I was buying dedicated cycling shorts.

They are a little snug for me. I'm 5'8" 155lbs and have a size 30 waist. I ordered the size 30 and I'm not sure if there is much room for a liner with the way they fit. Maybe go up a size if you're going to wear them with a liner. There is a built in waist adjustment on the inside of the waist band that is maxed out. I'd suggest if you really want this short for some reason to go one size large and you can use the waste adjustment to custom fit, but I doubt you'll end up tightening them. They also on the shorter side. They stop just above the knee cap on me. Back country lists them as having a 13" inseam. I measured 11.5".

Would I buy them again? Probably not. I would buy something roomier that came with a good padded liner.

Spend a little extra and get what you actually want. Don't settle for these because they're on sale.

Very light weight, but tight.

I totally agree with this. I'm 5' 9" and 150 pounds, I ordered the size 32 and they are pretty tight which I wouldn't have expected. I'm going to return them and get something a little more loose.

Yep. I'm usually a 32 and had to return and get a 34. BUT once I got the size right they are awesome.

Good rule of thumb is to size up your bike shorts, especially with Dakine and Fox.
