Joule GPS Computer with HRM

Your heart rate is a key element of power training; analyzing your wattage output is important, but monitoring the physiological exertion at those levels is crucial. CycleOps understands the relationship of power to heart rate, and that's why they made the Joule GPS Computer with HRM. The Joule GPS has expanded metrics, more detailed historical reporting and full GPS capabilities. If you've been running a Garmin CPU with your PowerTap, the time to change over is now. The CycleOps GPS Computer offers a seamless relationship with PowerTap that no one else can match.

Weighing a remarkable 75 grams, the new CycleOps Joule GPS Computer is a lightweight monster of power computing intelligence. If you're used to the Joule 2.0, you'll be happy to hear that the new Joule GPS Computer still uses the customizable dashboard to display your selected data. The Joule GPS Computer displays 18 metrics at a time, like watt/kg, peak power, power zones, heart rate zones, temperature, surge count, altitude gained/lost, grade percentage, and much more. You still have access to Report Mode, which holds your historical averages stored in increments of one week, two weeks, four weeks, eight weeks, six months, and 12 months. This mode is useful for post-ride analysis of how your training is progressing, but all reports can be accessed on-the-fly during a ride. The Joule GPS allows analysis of historical data to be compared with your current ride data, as well. Altogether, there are 58 metrics available for history reports that include power detail, work, peak power, and climbing.

The dashboard on the Joule GPS Computer can be changed at any time. The new Joule features a similar joystick-type controller to toggle between desired metrics, modes, or reports that you want displayed on the dashboard. A huge advantage of power training with the Joule GPS over a Garmin CPU is the Joule's ability to set automatic intervals by simply hitting a button. It also features an auto-interval countdown to let you know how much longer you have to feel like you're being turned inside out. While ride data is saved in one second intervals, the Joule Computer allows up to 999 intervals and 40 hours of second-by-second data, to be saved onboard.

If you're coming from the Joule 2.0, you'll immediately notice the smaller and more ergonomic design of the new Joule GPS Computer. The Joule GPS looks more like a cycling computer than its 2.0 counterpart, and the body is nearly all black to blend in with your bike—because black goes with everything. The Joule Computer can be mounted on the front of the handlebars or on the stem, and comes with the mounts for each of these options. The Joule GPS battery life is around 20 hours, and uses a rechargeable battery.

Of course, the Joule GPS Computer has full GPS capabilities, and it utilizes a full route view to ensure that you don't get lost ever again. Your routes can be downloaded to the CPU and uploaded to your home computer afterwards. You also get access to customizable workouts and a low battery indicator.

The CycleOps Joule GPS Computer is only a computer, and requires an ANT+ compatible Powermeter such as the G3 PowerTap, G3C PowerTap, or PowerTap Pro hubs. The Joule is also compatible with any ANT+ heart rate, speed, cadence or power sensors. The kit includes an ANT+ heart rate monitor strap, featuring a chest strap receiver and an elastic band to secure it. You can monitor this metric on the dashboard of the Joule GPS Computer. The Joule Computer is waterproof for accurate training rain or shine.
