setup problem

If you have a 29er you need to buy adapter from CycleOps for a 142 mm x 12mm setup which BackCountry does not carry which is an extra $60.00 if you want this trainer.

    Its smooth

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I had an old fly wheel trainer that used air resistance. Talk about loud. I got this and it works great. Sets up easily. Does make some noise. If someone is trying to do work in the same room it going to bother them. Sort of like a fan on low/med setting. Your tires will wear down alot with any trainer so plan accordingly for new tire of get dedicated bike on trainer with one of the several trainer tires out there. Feels very smooth; not sure what other mean by "road feel" as no trainer in my opinion will have road feel but its smooth.

Is it OK to set this up on carpet?

You should have no problem setting up this trainer on carpets or any other cycleops trainer for that madder. As long as the carpet is not to thick, the rear wheel should not hit it and scuff up your carpets. I would recommend laying down a mat on the floor with the trainer over it ( a cheap yoga mat works the best and is perfect size) since the workout you get on a cycleops trainer will probably leave your floor in a puddle.

I have my on carpet and sometimes hardwood. No problem on carpet. The rear wheel is plenty off the ground unless you have "shag" carpet and you live with Mike Meyers....
