Merino does it all, except perhaps protect you when you steer into a curb going from bar #5 to #6.

Don the Cutter Men's Hoodlum Shirt for your weekly pub crawl. It's merino wool and long sleeves cut the shivers when you bike from bar to bar during chilly evenings. An ergonomic hood lets you ride stealth and offers ninja-like protection from the autumn chill. Its soft-as-butter merino fabric won't stink, and it provides stellar warmth beneath your flannel or tee if you feel like using as a layering piece. Flatlock seams also prevent any annoying chafing issues and allow you to layer without any bunching problems.

Nice in Concept, Hood Could be Better

This is a thin lightweight base layer, but since it is Merino wool is feels warmer than the weight would indicate. Fit is pretty snug, as it should be, and the longer back is nice for riding. Sleeves are nice and long. The hood is the same thin Merino and fits fairly close to the face.

Great under a thermal jersey as a single base layer for the low-40's and under, but the hood has a narrower temperature range. At 45deg or above it's simply too warm to wear a hood, and at 35deg or lower the hood isn't thick enough to provide real warmth. Under 35deg you could wear a hat over the top of the hood and still get awesome neck protection, but the hood won't be warm enough on its own.

I've found the best time to use this is on rides that start in the 30s and warm up from there. Once it warms I can just pull the hood down and I don't need to worry about stuffing a hat in my pocket.

Overall this is a decent (but not awesome) piece that should see a moderate amount of use road riding in northern New England winter.

You Want This Shirt

Simply the best cool weather top I have. Merino wool is light yet surprisingly warm and washes extremely well. I look forward to buying another top made of this material.

Awesome Hoodie Shirt

If you've ever searched for hooded merino wool shirts, you probably know by now that they are almost impossible to find. The Cutter hoodlum fills this void. One unique feature, worth noting, is that the hood opening on this jacket is designed such that the fabric covers your neck, almost in a ninja fashion. I am personally psyched on this, because the way to hood is shaped, I could slip this up over my helmet and end up with a secure holding on top and protection below the chin.

Size wise, this fits slim like most bike clothing. I am 5'11", 165lbs and I felt the L was perfect.
