Spend the extra if you can for something else
Material good for the price, the stitching not so much. Have used it maybe a half dozen times and the stitching at the cuff has horribly come undone. Quickly made it's way up the sleeve, leaving the reflective strip just hanging off. Not sure if it's fixable at this point.
Update: used it for the first time since late last winter. Washed it per the instructions and it has three new holes, two around the pocket corners.
Don't waste your hard earned money on this thing, no matter how good the price is.
fit is perfect
got it off Bonktown last week and the fit is perfect for me. I usually am a XL in Pearl Izumi or Bellwether jerseys and this is spot on. Sleeves are long on me but I have short arms. Length is good, doesn't ride up in the back when in proper riding position...oh and yeah it Merino wool. 'nuff said. Get it when it pops up on BT.
Not my best purchase
Huge fan of wool here, but unfortunately this jersey didn't quite suit my frame. My biggest objection was the broad cut of the neckline. Nothing felt snug like I expected...I ordered Size M, and I'm 170lbs / 6' tall. Styling points galore with this, but for me, it would not have been a jersey I'd reach for every time like I'd hoped. RealCyclist has outrageously good customer service...for sure I'll keep coming back for more
Buy It Already
I love this thing. I'm 5'9" 170 and a medium fits perfectly. It can go several rides without stink, it's not itchy (unlike Ibex) and it breathes well. It's a great prerace warm-up jacket. Plus, every time I wear it somebody points at me and yells, "Bonktown!" Just go for it, you'll love it too.
The classic is my new go-to cool weather jersey. It's fall\spring temperature regulation kicks ass. I've had no problems with the jersey pockets sagging - or loosing items, including a headlamp battery, sunglasses, flat repair kit, and jacket. (Cutter Cyclical folds up and fits no problem - the combo rocks for winter weather protection) Countless compliments from hotties doesn't hurt either.
Love this Jersey
I've had this jersey for a couple of months now and it has become my go to piece. I wear it alone when it's too cold for just a tee and too warm for a jacket, wear it under a wind shell & wear a light wool tee under it. Very soft and durable.
I'm 6' 175lb and the large fits perfect... highly recommended!

Awesome Classic Merino
The Cutter Classic Merino Jersey is nice. It is soft and doesn't feel scratchy, at all. It performs just as merino should. It keeps you warm when it's cold or wet and helps keep you cool when it's warm. I prefer this jersey when it's cool outside. When it's warm I do prefer to go short-sleeve (that's where the new Cutter Hoodlum will come into play).
I'm 6' tall and about 180 lbs and I wear the medium. The fit is tight, but not skin suit tight. I don't feel awkward walking around in this jersey. I have long arms and the arm length is just right for me.
I've worn the jersey close to 25 times and washed it half a dozen times. So far it isn't showing any wear. There are no snags and no pilling. I do wear it on multiple rides between each washing. By the time it dries post ride the smells are gone (gotta love merino).
It does feature three stash pockets with one small zipper pocket. It also has small reflective strips on the forearm seams to help increase nighttime visibility. The muted gray with green zips is nice and not flashy at all.
Overall this jersey is awesome. I'd buy another one but one is working just fine for me. Do yourself a favor and pick one up.
It is a great jersey - super soft! My only complaint is that the zipper is not as compressible/elastic as the rest of the jersey so it kind of bunches up when you are in riding position. Its worth it still!
Don't expect it to last...
I liked this jersey a lot when I got it. But after less than a dozen washings it is getting holey. I generally expect a piece of clothing I spend more than 50 bucks on to last more than a couple months.
Is this machine washable?
Is this machine washable?
Yes, All high end merino wool is washable, then hang to dry.
Hey: short rider here, anyone have info....
Hey: short rider here, anyone have info. on sleeve length? I see the fit comments, so I'd be a large most likely (I'm 5'4", weighing 165), but am afraid the sleeves would be too long. I see the measurements on the size chart, but find these don't always bear out.
The sleeve length is actually correct on the sizing chart.
I am 5'3" and there is some extra sleeve but it's not a huge issue- there is some bunching behind the cuffs but i probably don't even notice it since - well, it's pretty much the way it goes for me. the important thing is that even if you do have some bunch, i felt it wasn't really noticeable. you can read a review of it at livebikework.com
Had I known I would like this jersey so much I would've grabbed a few more back when I got this one on sale in early September (under $70!...in hindsight a great deal).
Merino wool, long sleeve, handles the early fall NY rides perfectly.
Love the style, the fit, real comfortable.
This is a really good cool weather jersey. I am 6'0", 190 and the large fits correctly, I wear Men's L in almost all casual clothing. I wear this when it's 12-14 degrees celsius and a short sleeve is a bit cool for the warm up part of my ride. The wool is warm enough for the early part and not at all too warm after I'm warmed up. My only observation is that the wool is a bit stretchy and anything of any weight at all in the back pockets will cause some sag as well as bounce when out of the saddle (maybe i need to refine my technique!). I carry a Blackberry and a classic iPod (yes I have considered the risks).
Very nice jersey, especially at BT prices.
How does this jersey fit compared to other...
How does this jersey fit compared to other jerseys? I have a couple Pearl Izumi jerseys of varying fits (xxl race jersey is pretty tight, xxl relaxed jersey is fairly baggy).
This jersey is designed to have a tighter, performance fit. Similar to that of a base layer and comparable to PI's race fit.
Did you find out how the XXL fit is? I wear an American XXL and I'm trying to figure how this would be.
Per my review, I wear Men's L in almost all regular fashion clothing and the L in this is perfect: true to size, not Euro. (I wear XL-XXL in Castelli)
Very, very nice
You have to love merino wool - it's like wearing a space suit, keeps you warm when it's cold and keeps you cool when it's hot. This is a very nice, full-zip merino wool jersey with a close (but not painted-on) fit, the right number of pockets (including a wee little zip pocket for keys or an MP3 player), and great performance. The wool is very soft and luxurious, but the whole thing seems solidly constructed and although I haven't worn it too many times it seems like it will last. Nice understated color and design, too, so you don't like like a walking billboard. Runs true to size. I've tried merino wool jerseys from Swobo and Sugoi as well - they're all very good, and this one is definitely neck and neck with the famous Swobos. I happened to find it on Bonktown at a good discount, which made it even sweeter.
A Very Good Bike Jersey
This jersey is comfortable, breathable, and is the right thickness for spring/summer riding. The zipper comes up a bit high under the chin, but overall, this is a good complement to the cycling wardrobe.
