It works like a charm

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have not had extensive use of this yet but it has proved very handy over the short time I have had it. Does it's job and is very convenient at the same time. I am pleased!

Love this tool

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've got several of these and love them. Its got everything i need and nothing I don't . Chain tool is just a bit harder to use because of the small wing, but it isn't bulky and works in a pinch. The bolts holding the tool do tend to loosen especially in a pack, so i add a little locktite.

Great Multi-Tool

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the all in one tool to pack along for any excursion. It is fairly small, but surprisingly heavy. I especially notice its weight when I throw it into my jersey pocket.

The tool to pack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tool can do it all. It is compact and very well built. However a little on the large side they payoff is knowing if I carry this tool I can fix just about everything on any bike. In some cases this is my go to tool for bike maintenance.

Killer Tool

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Everything you need, nothing you dont. Small, but sturdy and easy to use.

Mr. Fix it

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great tool, has all the basics, plus chain tool and the small sizes I need to clean out my cleats and Torx for the XX1 and disc brakes. Light weight, always with me on a ride.

best tool i could find

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I did a ton of research on multi tools for bike maintenance and emergency trail/road work, and decided on Crank Bros 17. Glad I did. Crank Bros stuff seems to get a bad rap a lot of the time, for lack of quality, or for simply looking pretty and not lasting. I've been pleased with this tool after using it pretty extensively for the last 2 years or so.

The main attraction to this tool over others it the chain tool. I ride a single speed in addition to my mountain and road bikes, and single speed chains are wider, and require a wider chain tool. Some, like certain Park tools, are made only for narrower chains, like 9 or 10 speeds, which is fine, but won't break a single speed chain. This chain tool will. I know it would probably be a good investment to get a dedicated chain tool, but how often do you ever have to break a chain down? Hopefully never. I've only had to use the chain tool two or three times, and it's worked really well. The only difficult part is putting the links back together with the tool, which will compress the links when inserting the pin. I just took a flat blade screwdriver and pried them apart a tad, and they move fine, and are connected correctly.

The rest of the tools are fantastic, I've put quite a bit of torque on them, and no bending or breaking in the tool frame or tools. It works well, and stands up to quite a bit of abuse. It's a bit heavy, but compact and pretty, so not a big deal.

I can't recommend more, both my brother and dad have one now after seeing mine. It's almost easier to use this thing than get out the dedicated bike tools sometimes.

great tool

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

used on my first mtb trail ride this year.. and the chain break works great, took 20 min to fix my chain after falling off on the trail. also has every little tool you will need to fix you bike on the trail!

Awesome little tool.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tool is great. Nice and compact, yet has all the needed tools for a trail side fix. The rubber band that slides over the tool is a nice touch that keeps everything in place. Very solid construction and has a nice finish. This is a great little tool to throw in your bag for the price.

Multi Pass

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This Crank Brothers Multi 17 Tool was harder to get out of the packaging than it was to use. Lots of options on this tool including a chain tool (I wasn't expecting that) This works great and hopefully helps me out when its needed on the trail.

Just Right

This multitool fits perfectly in my pack for long rides, and has everything needed for routine trail tune-ups and repairs. I like the rubber guard that wraps around the tools to keep them in place. Its light, yet sturdy, so I hope it outlasts several bikes over many years of riding.

Perfect Trail Took

This is a very nice AND affordable multitool. I like that it is so compact, yet has all of the basics and a chain breaker. Mine came with a branded rubber band to keep all of the keys from swinging loose when not in use. Aside from tire levers, a mini pump, and a spare tube, this is the only other item I carry in my pack when I hit the trails.

One Tool To Rule Them All...

Awesome little tool. Has everything you need in a tool. Its small, relatively light and inexpensive for what it has, super sturdy, durable and reliable. I have used it at least once on probably every ride I have been on this season. Worth it. I highly recommend this.

Solid

I've used this tool for several years without a single problem. Seen and used several others and never been as impressed. It is smaller and more sturdy than any others.

Crank Brothers Multi 17 Tool is awesome!

A great tool that is well worth it's weight. Despite the heft of this tool it is actually compact in size for all the tools that it packs in. Chain breaker, Torx T-25, 8-mil for the cranks, spoke wrenches, 8, 9 and 10 mm wrenches. It really does have virtually everything you will need short of a pump and patch kit or cold beer.

Good tool

Good tool that has served its purpose thus far.

some quirks:
the drivers are short and won't reach some places on the bike
the drivers like to swing out on their own when you're using one of them. They won't stay in place without something holding them there
this tool rusts, don't get it wet.

otherwise this tool has been great. i like the look of it and the quality of the casing, other than that it rusts easily. Has enough tools to almost tune up an entire bike

Great Little tool

I lost my previous tool hammering down snowbasin so needed a replacement quickly. Delivered next morning. I have used the tool a few times and it is easy and very compact. I havn't had to use the chain tool in anger yet so time will tell.
