NECESSARY!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tool saved me from walking my bike home! It has also come in handy when a friend needed to make a quick fix to their bike. I love this tool! It's small and built well. Feels like it will last a lifetime!

Great for your saddle bag

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Works great, is small and light and fits well with everything else in my saddle bag on my road and mtn rides. Mine are both old and rusty now, but work great still.

Solid Multi-Tool

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Functional and compact, like that it comes with thick rubber band that holds everything in place.

Everything you need.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This tool has everything you need and nothingthat you dont. A big plus for me is the rounded edges for pocket confort. Ive fallen a few times wit a leatherman in my pocket and the leatherman can cut you up pretty bad. But this tool is nice and smooth. Fairly lightweight too.

17 is the magic number.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tool comes with everything you would need (and no filler extras) to fix just about anything on your whip when you're out and about. Well designed, easy to use and durable. Small enough you could put it in your pocket if you really needed to.

Best multi-tool out there

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had one of these since CB came out with them, and have carried it with me on every ride. I finally got a multi-10 for the road bike because the 17 felt like overkill, but I picked up an additional 17 tool for my wife when she started riding mountain bikes. It's durable, well-designed, and has everything you need to fix just about any mechanical problem.

Useful

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Like the compact size for plenty of tools. Feels like a quality build with good materials. Only complaint would be the stiff rubber band like thing that holds it all together. Once you lose that the tools will be loose and all over the place. Overall though, quality little tool

A must have in your saddle bag!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I carry one of these in my small saddlebag and it has a tool for anything I've ever had to tighten, adjust, or fix out on the road. Well made-I can't envision ever needing to replace unless I lose it.

So far so good!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This tool arrived the other day, and so far it seems great! It has all the tools I could possibly want, I think.

It works like a charm

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have not had extensive use of this yet but it has proved very handy over the short time I have had it. Does it's job and is very convenient at the same time. I am pleased!

Love this tool

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've got several of these and love them. Its got everything i need and nothing I don't . Chain tool is just a bit harder to use because of the small wing, but it isn't bulky and works in a pinch. The bolts holding the tool do tend to loosen especially in a pack, so i add a little locktite.

Great Multi-Tool

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the all in one tool to pack along for any excursion. It is fairly small, but surprisingly heavy. I especially notice its weight when I throw it into my jersey pocket.

The tool to pack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tool can do it all. It is compact and very well built. However a little on the large side they payoff is knowing if I carry this tool I can fix just about everything on any bike. In some cases this is my go to tool for bike maintenance.

Killer Tool

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Everything you need, nothing you dont. Small, but sturdy and easy to use.

Mr. Fix it

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great tool, has all the basics, plus chain tool and the small sizes I need to clean out my cleats and Torx for the XX1 and disc brakes. Light weight, always with me on a ride.

best tool i could find

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I did a ton of research on multi tools for bike maintenance and emergency trail/road work, and decided on Crank Bros 17. Glad I did. Crank Bros stuff seems to get a bad rap a lot of the time, for lack of quality, or for simply looking pretty and not lasting. I've been pleased with this tool after using it pretty extensively for the last 2 years or so.

The main attraction to this tool over others it the chain tool. I ride a single speed in addition to my mountain and road bikes, and single speed chains are wider, and require a wider chain tool. Some, like certain Park tools, are made only for narrower chains, like 9 or 10 speeds, which is fine, but won't break a single speed chain. This chain tool will. I know it would probably be a good investment to get a dedicated chain tool, but how often do you ever have to break a chain down? Hopefully never. I've only had to use the chain tool two or three times, and it's worked really well. The only difficult part is putting the links back together with the tool, which will compress the links when inserting the pin. I just took a flat blade screwdriver and pried them apart a tad, and they move fine, and are connected correctly.

The rest of the tools are fantastic, I've put quite a bit of torque on them, and no bending or breaking in the tool frame or tools. It works well, and stands up to quite a bit of abuse. It's a bit heavy, but compact and pretty, so not a big deal.

I can't recommend more, both my brother and dad have one now after seeing mine. It's almost easier to use this thing than get out the dedicated bike tools sometimes.

great tool

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Awesome little tool.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tool is great. Nice and compact, yet has all the needed tools for a trail side fix. The rubber band that slides over the tool is a nice touch that keeps everything in place. Very solid construction and has a nice finish. This is a great little tool to throw in your bag for the price.

Multi Pass

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This Crank Brothers Multi 17 Tool was harder to get out of the packaging than it was to use. Lots of options on this tool including a chain tool (I wasn't expecting that) This works great and hopefully helps me out when its needed on the trail.
