Crank Brothers Joplin 4 Seatpost $0.00
We have dreams about great trails with fabulous descents. How about the Joplin trail, the namesake for the Crankbrothers Joplin 4 Seatpost? It's all downhill. It's all uphill. It just depends on which trailhead you start at. And if you're like us, you appreciate the challenge of the climb as well as the sweet reward of the sweeping descent, thus going up and going down is best done with the saddle set appropriately. The Joplin 4 lets you do that, in an instant, with the flick of a lever.
Crankbrothers took a licensed, adjustable seatpost design from Maverick, the Speedball, and added their own characteristic ingenuity to it. In their hands, it has become far more reliable and much improved. The latest iteration, the Crankbrothers Joplin 4 has four critical differences from the previous version:
- 1/ Most significantly, it has another inch of adjustment range, now with four inches instead of three.
- 2/ They've increased the performance and durability by improving the smoothness and roundness of the inner tube and have installed a U-cup seal in place of the former round O-ring. This will ensure that the oil in the upper tube of the post will not leak down into the outer post shaft and limit travel range.
- 3/ It also has two guide blocks that maintain the alignment of the post. The previous model only had one. The dual guides keep the saddle absolutely centered and free from the dreaded wiggle.
- 4/They've even made improvements to something seemingly as mundane as the seat clamp assembly. The two yellow anodized outer clamps have a new web of material between them to reduce flexing, creaking, and the potential for slippage on the rails.
The Crankbrothers Joplin 4 Seatpost is 398mm long. Both the inner and outer shafts are made from aluminum. The post accommodates 100mm (4 inches) of seat height range. The adjustments are made via a lever attached to the saddle clamp, sitting directly under the nose of the saddle. The clamp assembly is infinitely adjustable for both fore-aft and tilt. It has a black shaft, hard ano gold stanchion, and yellow anodized threaded ring and seat clamp hardware. The post can be converted to use a remote lever as well. It is available in two diameters -- 30.9mm and 31.6mm.
Crankbrothers offers a two-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on the Joplin 4.
