Simple and functinal

If you just need something to have in the pack or laying around the house to re-fill those tires before your daily ride, this is the hand pump for you. Never had any issues, fits all types of tires and gets the job done. If there is one downfall it is not knowing how much pressure you are sitting at.

nice pump, perfect fit on frame

    The perfect pump

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

so small it will fit anywhere and no reason to not love this. both stem selections for any any kind of tire and it's very light.

    Great all around pump

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pump has sure come in handy. This excellent little pump weighs next to nothing and is quite small compared to most other pumps, its very short. It is also very convenient that it has both a shrader and presta valve available.

    Nifty little thing...

This pump is great. Two extensions while pumping based on < 40 psi or over. The two valve option is simple and effective. It also weighs nothing. Mainly either keep it in my mtn bike pack or in the back pocket of my jersey while road riding. Very effective both ways.

    Ride On

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I consistently get flats on my mountain bike, mostly from riding more than I should, but this little gem has saved me more times than I can count. It comes in two sizes dependent on what you need, the short fits within the smallest compartment of my Camelbak Mule without an issue, and works incredibly well for road and mountain bike tires. Obviously it isn't a floor pump, but with minimal effort you can get your tubes pumped up and ready to go in a heartbeat. With the ability to switch from Shrader to Presta valves and the light weight of 128-155 grams, I can definitely say I am thoroughly satisfied with this pump!

    It works

I got this as an inexpensive insurance policy for getting aflat while mtn biking. It can be switched from Shrader to Presta valves quickly making it great for my mountain (presta) and commuter (shrader) bikes. It has become my main bike pump since the cheap floor pump I had decided to call it quits.

    A Gem of a Pump

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have gone back and forth between pumps of various styles and ended up thinking smaller is better. I run tubeless, so I so rarely need to touch my valves, but it is nice in the event of a loss of pressure or if I need to throw a tube in. Short and fat is where it is at!

    Great little pump

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Compact, lightweight and easy to use despite it's small size. Easily stows in my cambelbak without taking up much room. Quality construction, durable, works very well. I only use it for MTB so I can't attest to how it works with high-pressure road tires.

    I like. I like it, I say.

This is my first Crank Brothers purchase, and I'm impressed by the quality of this product. The pump is lightweight and includes a bracket for attaching the pump beneath your water bottle cage so you never need to leave home without it. The red color doesn't quite match my bike's colorway, but that's a minor quibble.

The pump attaches to my Presta valves no problem. Due to its small size, pumping is a bit more difficult than with larger hand pumps. I'm not sure if I could actually pump a tire up to 130 PSI with this thing as per spec, but it will get you pumped again to rol home without too much trouble.

One caveat about pumping with this pump: because the pump head is attached to the pump shaft, I worry a bit about the torque I'm putting on the tube valve as I pump back and forth. I think that perhaps the design Lezyne uses (with a tube attachment between the shaft and the pump head) is a smarter one to prevent so much pressure being put on the valve as you pump the tire.

    Continues the tradition

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have a high opinion of all the Crankbrothers products I have owned and this pump only furthers that. About ten years ago I owned one of their first mini-pumps and it lasted a long time. Just like that pump the Gem has two-stage action. It can pump either high volume, which is awesome for getting a head start on airing up a tire, or high pressure, which is perfect for topping a tire off.

This pump permanently resides in my pack and will be what I turn to should the need arise.

We have a bike that has the Gem Pump in a pack but we're not sure just how it works. It has a pressure gauge on it and kind of looks like a hammer. Do you have instructions on how to use this item>
