We all want candy.

Crank Brothers Egg Beater pedals are renowned for their mud-shedding power, easy four-sided entry design, and minimalist platform-free construction. For those of us that don't mind a few extra grams and want a bit of platform for added support and security, the Crank Brothers Candy 7 Pedals provide Egg Beater functionality with a platform boasting the new traction pad technology for a boost of supportive confidence wherever the ride takes you.

Appropriate for both mountain and cyclocross applications, the Candy 7 features an open design that sheds mud better than almost any other pedal system for confident cleat engagement in the muckiest conditions. The cleat system allows riders to adjust float and release angle to best meet their needs, and ribbing on the body provides extra traction when not clipped in. Crank Brothers adds in its new traction pad technology, which consists of two rubber pads placed on the pedal body that increase grip and promote effective cleat engagement. The Candy 7s come with one millimeter and two millimeter interchangeable pads, allowing riders to customize the system to best match with their favorite off-road shoes.

The Crank Brothers Candy 7 Pedals come complete with premium brass cleats with shims included.

Converting all my pals!

This is about my 8th pair of Crank Brothers pedals. Will never use any other pedal systems. Awesome release in the hairiest situations. Never clog up with PNW mud and snow.

    My new pedals!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Here in Northern New Jersey the trails are littered with rock gardens. Clipping in and out (mostly clipping in) in these sections was becoming a pain in the ass with my old SPDs. I wanted something different with a little more platform and easier engagement. The Candy 7 was what I was looking for. Even if I can't clip in right away that little extra surface area makes for a stable platform to get my momentum going again. The pedals come with the cleats and shims for your shoes as well as some shims for the pedals. The shims are provided to dial in the interface between the shoe and the pedal. The instructions are quite clear and helpful in this process. I have a pair of Shimano shoes and required the shim between the cleat and sole. The actual clipping in process is slightly easier than the SPD because you can do this from almost any angle, just locate the engagement area with the cleat and apply pressure, you're in! Again the added surface area helps if you can't get in right away. Getting out of them is easy as well. Crank Brothers have given two choices of how much twist it takes to get out of the pedal. This depends on which shoe you put the dotted cleat on. I have them set for earlier release. Got mine in red. They're a little pricey if you're on a budget but who cares, this is our chosen endeavor. Love the shiney metal stuff! Highly recommend these for the bling factor and those who have never used clipless pedals.

Thanks for the review Jeff! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

I don't notice much of a difference between these and the Candy 3's. Performance wise they seem the same. When held in your hand, you can notice perhaps a little higher level of craftsmanship with things like beveled edges and a ribbed platform (not for pleasure). While they're supposedly for decreasing the likelihood of pedal strikes, increasing traction, and making a better "race worthy" platform, I really don't feel the difference. But I went with them b/c the pink pedals are a baller move. Duh.

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these as a gift for my fiance. They are made out of top-of-the-line T6 Aluminum which makes them lightweight. Easy to put on. Best pedals she has had and the pink is flashy and mean.
