Candy is dandy.

Split the difference between flats and eggbeaters with the Crank Brothers Candy 1 Pedals, which use a composite body and stamped steel wings to add surface area to the pedal body for more pedal power and control on quick descents. The Candy 1 Pedals offer customizable release values between 15 and 20 degrees, so you can set them up just the way you like them and, at just 272 grams per pair, they'll add way less weight to your bike than those bulky flats you've been riding.

Candy 1

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm new to the clips and these were a great way to get started. I like the size of the composite platform vs. egg-beater type pedals...once I got used to it, clipping in is easy and the extra surface area seems to give me a solid balanced feel on the trail. Compared to the newer Candys, I see little difference other than the outstanding price, which allows me to put a little more money toward the shoes. Great product for a great price.

Best pedal for price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I originally got these pedals to get into XC but I have now expanded my Crank Brothers clipless collection because of them. I do not see much of difference between the candy 1 and 2 other than the plastic vs metal but I prefer the plastic as it is a little more forgiving on the shins during rougher times. I have even put these pedals on a road bike and they perform just as well. Again I would go with the candy 1 over the 2 due performance being about the same with a much lower price.
