Local records were meant to be broken.

Mercifully, gone are the days when your cold weather gear consisted of a long-sleeve cotton tee-shirt and an iron will. But if the choice of base layer options was too limited 30 years ago, it's almost too varied today. Craft makes the process of elimination very easy with their Zero Extreme Concept Long Sleeve Base Layer.

Base layers should not add an irritating or lumpy layer of bulk under your jersey. Their usefulness will rest in their ability to regulate your core body temperature since therein will lie your overall success as an athlete. For decades now Craft has been developing materials intended to keep you warm in an arctic winter or cool in Saharan heat. The two fabrics which handily succeed in fulfilling these large temperature control demands are the Pro Zero and the Pro Cool, respectively. And the key to both the fabrics is how well each works to keep the body temperature neutral by keeping it dry.

By merging Craft's two flagship fabrics, the Pro Zero and the Pro Cool, the Zero Extreme combines the moisture wicking genius of the Pro Zero with the moisture transference of the Pro Cool. This means that as you sweat, the Zero fibers pull the moisture away from your body while the Cool fibers pull the damp to the outer layer of the shirt. Once the moisture reaches the outer layer, the weave of the Cool fiber promotes air circulation away from the skin which dries the fabric without cooling you off at the same time. The Zero Extreme also incorporates an antimicrobial treatment which prevents fabric odor from setting in.

The Craft Zero Extreme Concept Long Sleeve Base Layer has been designed to regulate your body temperature in whatever zones require it. The seamless torso has an ergonomic fit, but doesn't pull uncomfortably at the armpits since the thin, lightweight fabric is also extremely elastic. It will hug, not cling to your body, and the flatlock seams succeed in making this base layer an ideal second skin.

The Craft Zero Extreme Concept Long Sleeve Base Layer comes in Silver/white and is available in sizes Small though XX-Large.

Best baselayer yet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I am a major Craft fan and have several of their base layers but this is my new go to baselayer when the temps are varying and we are in for a hard ride. Its form fitting but not restrictive. I like the different materials to keep you comfortable and I think this is an improvement over past baselayers.

Excellent quality, works well

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm 6'2", 175lbs, orginally bought M but traded it in for the L for the slightly longer sleeve. It is a very snug fit, but fits comfortably and does work well, keeping heat in around torso and arms, venting heat under the arms and shoulders. It's amazing how well it works. I put this under a wind breaker and stay warm down into the 30s.

Fantastic baselayer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This is the best fitting and warmest baselayer I have ever used. It is fantastic for inbounds skiing with hot/cold rapid cycles, and for huge uphill treks while sweating buckets. It keeps the moisture away from the skin, is incredibly light but also very warm. I have 2 and will keep buying more. Keep up the great work Craft!

Great shirt.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have this one in black, and I use it for biking, skiing (both touring and resort), and running. I am always really impressed with Craft stuff, and this is no exception. It is light yet warm and never feels clammy (unlike, for example, some of my older arcteryx stuff). I have a variety of Craft base layers and they are truly my favorite. My only gripe (if this is indeed a gripe) is that the fabric (mainly the mesh under the arms) makes it so I would never wear this as a sole layer.

Great for base miles

  • Gender: Male

Perfect base layer for those winter days when I don't go too hard. I use it with a light windstopper jacket and am comfortable from low 30s to mid 40s. With harder effort than HR zone 2 in the 40s, it is a tad too warm.

The most awesome tech wear I've found!!!

Bought for xc skiing. When climbing a long hill, you sweat, a lot, this design allows the heat to dissipate while keeping your arms warm and chest. I just cannot say enough about how much I love it and I'm very picky on design, fit, etc. used today on 25 km classic ski with 1000' gain.

Responded on

I'd get another if they had black or craft red without the color blocking panel differences. I like the fabric being different, that's function, but the aesthetics would slick in solid color with just deviated stitching .
