Description

You don't have to be the top rider to be in the Elite.

There are some cycling clothing brands which make their winter jackets thick and warm enough for standing around for an hour talking over the battle scars of a 40 minute ride. That's not how a Craft winter jacket is designed. On the contrary, Craft creates winter-wear which is intended to keep you warm and dry during even the most aggressive riding in seriously cold temperatures. The Craft Elite Winter Jacket is a perfect example of their designs that offer the ideal combination of wind protection, insulation, and moisture transport when you hammer in the cold.

The front of the jacket is made from a three-layered fabric. A cozy brushed polyester is on the inside nearest to your skin. It's designed to provide you with the most warmth while still effectively moving the moisture away from your body. The middle layer is comprised of a thin membrane of wind and rain resistant fibers. This will keep the unpleasant elements from piercing through to your core. And finally, a fine polyamide layer on the outside of the jacket gives it a durability that will see the Elite Winter Jacket lasting you year after year.

Materials aside, the genius of this jacket is in the details. The sleeves have a super-elastic flex fleece which fits well and gives your arms uninhibited freedom of movement. The same elastic fleece has been included on the back and provides a great deal of warmth as well as ventilation in comparison to the windproof front panels. The tall collar has a thin, elastic windproof fabric which protects your neck and throat from cold howling gales.

For storage, Craft provides three regular patch pockets as well as a fourth zippered pocket at the center of the back. The zipper makes it possible to keep your most important items super safe and also immediately accessible, even when you’re all gloved up. For further convenience, a rubber tab has been added to the end of the sleeve so that you can easily check your watch mid-ride. Silicon grippers at the bottom of the jacket keep it in place even when you're fully packed with all your ride essentials like phone, wallet, pump and inner tube or tire sealant. The Elite Winter Jacket has reflective piping on the front and back as well as a reflective Craft symbol so that you'll be more visible during times of low-level lighting.

The Craft Elite Winter Jacket is available in Black/amino and Red/black and comes in sizes Small through XX-Large.

  • Stretchy Flex Fleece on the back and sleeves at key muscle regions allow the fabric to expand when your internal drive kicks in
  • Three rear slot pockets and a fourth zippered pocket secure key items like gel packs and your portable media device
  • Elastic gripper at the hem holds the jacket in place when you get out of the saddle or lean in for the finish

Great Cold Weather Jacket

I purchased this jacket for winter riding. I typically use it when the temperatures get below 40 degrees. I've been very happy with it.

It has a "windstopper" like layer built into it which allows you to reduce your base layers. I rode in 29 degree weather today with only a merino 3 mid-weight hoodie from Patagonia as my baselayer and was very comfortable, even at speeds above 30 mph. The windstopper material is key here.

My only complaint with the design is the drop built into the back of the jacket which is designed to cover your butt. There is no problem with the fit or anything. I just find it unnecessary and not of particular value, unless it is raining. For me, once it gets below 40, I am usually going to pass on a training ride in the rain.

Bottom line - this jacket allows me to ride in comfortably when the temps drop into the 30's which keeps me on the road in all but to worst conditions where I live in Maryland.
