Float up the climbs.

Sharing the same sleek profile as its full-carbon tubular sibling, the Corima Winium + Carbon Clincher Wheels provide much of the same innovative technologies that propelled Pro Team Astana to victory at this year's Giro, albeit at a much lower price. With the new Winium + carbon clincher, you receive the convenience of a clincher along with both the reliability and compliant ride quality that's only found in a clincher design. Ultimately, this combination provides you with the perfect weapon for hilly and mountainous roads.

In its 35+ years of perfecting composites, producing mechanical molds in both the automotive and aeronautics fields, Corima continues to push the boundaries as to what's able to be achieved with carbon manufacturing. In fact, an integral part of what makes Corima's wheels so precise is directly attributable to its wheel components being built in-house. For the new Winium + wheels, this is no exception. The hubs, and rims used to build this lightweight clincher were manufactured in Corima's facility in the south of France. For this set of carbon wheels, Corima chose to apply its 24mm rim profile, as this shape has been proven to be one of the lightest in the world, yet it's still versatile enough to handle a variety of racing situations. And because of this slightly lower-profile, the Winium + spins up incredibly fast on the flats, remains exceptionally solid in crosswinds, and soars up the steepest climbs.

For its construction, Corima used pre-impregnated sheets of 3K (3000 filaments per square weave) carbon fiber. These sheets were then formed into its torsion box 'Concept 2D' shape, which results in a subtle 'U' profile with a moderate 22.6mm width. Corima also uses its HPS technology with its carbon clincher rims, meaning that they are made of 100% carbon, without incorporating any metallic parts. The reasoning behind this is to keep the weight as low as possible by not adding any unnecessary metal into the rim composition. And, besides lending itself to Corima's signature refined gloss and apparent carbon weave finish, this layup design also provides better aerodynamics, stiffness, and ride quality when compared to more traditional 'V' shaped carbon wheel profiles. It's a shape that Corima refined through extensive CAD designs and wind tunnel testing before the final design was selected.

One of the biggest contributors to the Winium + wheels' compliant ride quality and light weight (around 1400g for the set), is the spoke lacing pattern. Corima built the wheels with 18 spokes at the front and 20 at the rear. The lacing pattern was strategically arranged in a way that provides uniform tension throughout. At the rear wheel, the 12 drive-side spokes were cross-laced in order to deliver the most efficient transmission of power directly to the rear wheel. Additionally, the arrangement of these bladed Sapim CX -Ray spokes provides an incredible level of stiffness and durability to the wheelset.

The Winium + Wheels incorporate Corima's proprietary 3K carbon hub shells, which were built with both titanium and aluminum in order to create a stable, lightweight platform. The wheels feature low-friction, high-precision steel bearings, and on the rear wheel, three tempered steel transmission pawls were spaced at 120 degree intervals. Additionally, these are driven by powerful springs located in the 30-tooth ratchet ring. This ensures a fast and smooth engagement the moment that you apply pressure to the pedals.

The Corima Winium + Carbon Clincher Wheels are supplied with brake pads, quick-release skewers, and a wheel bag. They are available the color Black/white, in a 700c size, and with either a Shimano/SRAM or Campagnolo compatible freehub body. Please note that these wheels are sold individually, and that the Shimano/SRAM freehub body is available in both 9-/10-speed and 10-/11-speed version.
