While the Continental X-King Tubeless Tire is the one of heaviest of the race-and trail-focused X-King line, it's also tubeless ready. Because of that, it's probably the most versatile of the lot. It's able to be run at far lower PSI than a strictly tubed version, enabling better conformity to the trail and superior traction.

As the ProTection version of this tire, it's exceptionally tough, with a four-ply, rather than three-ply construction. This means it's able to suffer cuts and minor punctures much better than lesser tires, while still maintaining rideable pressure. This is due to the magic of the extra butyl layer inside that makes the sidewall tougher. And when you add sealant, you have a combo that repairs the wound before it ever slows you down.

The tread pattern of the Continental X-King Tubeless Tire is the same as the rest of the X-King line, and needless to say, it was developed for racing. It gets offset and lowered center knobs that are ramped for consistent speed. The offset also provides a steadier grip, power transfer, and smoother braking. The shoulder knobs are taller than most in order to dig into the surface of the trail for more stable cornering. Between the center and shoulder knobs there's a column of siped transitional knobs, and this siping gives the tire better grip in wet conditions. Additionally, these knobs help smooth the transition between the center surface and the edge of the tire, making that nanosecond of weight transfer from straight-line gas to braking and turning more confident and sure-footed.

The Continental X-King 26-inch Tubeless Tire is available in the color Black/black and in 2.2- and 2.4-inch widths.

Good, size is off

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great tire. Decently high volume, fast rolling, surprisingly good traction.

Overall, I am happy with it, but I'd be happier if it was actually the size it claimed to be. It barly measures 2.2 across the tread. I also have a Mountain King 26x2.4 that is the exact same way
