While the Continental X-King UST Tubeless Tire is the heaviest of the race and trail focused X-King line, it's also a dedicated tubeless tire. Because of that, it's probably the most versatile of the lot. It can be run at far lower PSI than a tubed version, enabling better conformity to the trail and superior traction. You might argue that the ProTection version of this tire is tougher, with a 4-ply, rather than 3-ply construction. However, as most racers and riders know, UST tubeless tires can suffer cuts and minor punctures and still maintain pressure, thanks to the magic of the extra butyl layer inside that makes the sidewall tougher. Add sealant and you have a combo that repairs the wound before it ever slows you down.

The tread pattern of the Continental X-King UST Tubeless Tire is the same as throughout the entire X-King line and was developed for racing. It gets offset, lowered center knobs that are ramped, for consistent speed. The offset gives a steadier grip, power transfer, and smoother braking. The shoulder knobs are taller, to dig into the surface of the trail for stable cornering. Between the center and shoulder knobs there's a column of siped transitional knobs; the siping gives the tire better grip in wet conditions, and these knobs help smooth the transition between the center surface and the edge of the tire, so that nanosecond of weight transfer from straight-line gas to braking and turning is confident and sure-footed, not sketchy.

The Continental X-King UST Tubeless Tire comes in a 2.2" and 2.4" width with a 26" diameter. The casing features 3 plies totaling 330 TPI under the tread and sidewalls. The bead is foldable and the X-King is black on black.

This rules the front.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this on the front for last 4 years. Love this tire. As my other review noted its probably a 2.35 in other companies specs but still big enough for me. I love this tire.

Great Tire, low rolling resistance

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I put a 2.4 on the front and rear of my Santa Cruz Nomad C. I ride mainly in the Park City area and these tires have been great from anything tacky to dry somewhat loose trails. These would not be a good tire for mud but that's not what it's designed for. They have a low rolling resistance.

hahaa for real! I love these tires. From alpine to desert riding..xc rulers. The weight doesn't bother me at all..since they don't seem super heavy to me, plus being tubeless , they're bomber. The grip of the knobs, the smoothness of braking...the ease of the roll. These tires help with the flow of the singletrack..wet or dry..they rally.
