Wear well - No flats!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Well over 1000 miles so far on the reds. Not even worn to the initial wear indicator and no flats. A few cuts but the Vectran barrier does as its designed to. Decent traction in the wet and good for training. I'll be purchasing these tires again.

Great ride - no flats

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Rode the blue tires (silica) for 500+ miles and so far so good. Used it for my everyday commute on the urban street with plenty of junk, never had a flat but it is starting to accumulate a lot of cuts. It rides smooth and grips the corner well. I wouldn't ride it in the wet, debris sticks easy and cause significant slippage.

Giving it a 4 now, if this tires last for 2K it will be worth a 5.

Bad Luck

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I had about 40 miles on them when the front tire blew, another 50 miles and it developed a slow leak. I don't recall running over anything but I suppose I must have based on what happened to the sidewall. Before that happened, they felt solid and gripped the road well. I felt more confident on fast turns than on my previous tires. Going by the other reviews, I just had bad luck.

cant choose color. any left in yellow or black for this price?

Hey Gary,

Looks like at the moment we only have the Silver variant in stock.

They are nice and smooth

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These tires are great and you can match the ride that they give you. They are smooth and allow you to roll over anything that gets in your way.

These tires have really impressed me

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Given I have no concepts of bikes except how to ride them and sometimes slow down, I was really impressed by the quality of an actual road bike tire. The flat protection is awesome on here, I can deffinally tell it works. These are very smooth and grippy

Great combo of wear and light weight

This is my perfect tire. First, let me say that I ride on good roads. So, I've not had sidewall failures that other have related. This tire is pretty lightweight at just over 200 g, good rolling resistance and corners well. Looks like I'm going to get about 4000 miles out of this set. I hear from fellow riders that the new model II is even better. No complaints here....

    Excellent Value

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been using these Continental 4000 tires for years on my Trek road bike. I love these tires. Easy to take off and on, they last quite a while most especially since I am not a light person :) I would highly recommend these tires and Competitive Cyclist has very good pricing on them and if you buy 2 often the shipping is free. Thanks Competitive Cyclist!

    Stellar buy!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased a pair of the red GT 4000s to replace the tires that came stock on my road bike, which I've had for ages. These tires are worth the money, as they hold up well with only one puncture in the 6 months they've been on the bike. In addition to being ultra low on the "puncture meter", they look ultra cool. I use my road bike for both medium and long distance training rides, though predominately race crit and circuit, and they have held up as expected, GREAT!

    Love these tires.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have the original set of GT 4000s that I bought 3 years ago. They have several thousand miles on them. I expect to get the same out of these as I have never had an issue with any of the other sets on my other bikes either.

    Great roll & grip

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have 2000 miles on the front tire and would have had the same on the back if I hadn't taken in a huge nail last weekend - but it happens. Have been very, very pleased with how dependable these tires are and how smooth the ride is. The red/black looks great too! My cycling buddy was so impressed with my lack of flats last season she made the switch too and loves them.

    Great tire

I have these mounted on my Cannondale R1000 and my cheap Taiwan Fixie. Best tires I have ever ridden, they are my favorite and plan on installing them on my Madone when the Bontrager's wear out. On sale they are a steal, give them a try.

    Top Notch !

Hey, if anyone's in doubt, then I assure you Continental Grand Prix 4000 is the best tire you'll get. It's not without reason that so many people claim this is the tire that sets the standard for everyone else who's trying to make good tires.

The grip is absolute top notch, and whether it be dry or wet and slippery roads, you can relax and really trust this tire when speed is high and when you're going into sharp turns.

Far as I'm concerned it's very durable as well, so it lasts a long time.

Also, I always use these tires on my road bike and I can't even remember the last time I had a flat.

For me there's simply no other tire anymore; not for training and not for competitions.

Just a shame it's out of stock.. Hopefully new stock will come in soon and in various colors

I have to give these tires a good review. Continental as a brand has been reliably excellent over the years. I have a pair of semi-slicks that I put back on my old Trek 950 mtn bike, and I toured Tasmania on them in 1995. Not a hint of dry rot after 17 years. I still have a pair of GS 1000 on my "vintage" bike, being abused on the trainer. There are some strands of sidewall, but heck, those tires go back to the previous millennium. I rode with a buddy on my GS4000's a couple weekends ago and it snowed heavily on us at the end, roads were wet, we descended 20% at high speed (45-50 mph) and he remarked that it was sketchy, but I didn't even notice. This on a two year old pair of 4000s with 3k miles on. Yet, on the negative side, the sidewalls are suspect. I kicked a rock into the previous pair that left an aneurism where the tube poked out, and the last pair had the same thing happen. So I switched to Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX, and on the first ride I thought, wow, so supple, smooth, and kick-ass in the corners. Bottom line is that with the GS 4000s, your mileage may vary.

        Look no further...

I rode 3000 miles over 5 months on these on all types of roads, pot holes, repairs etc, and nothing stops them. I don't race but I ride hard and these can take anything I throw at them. Extremley durable. You can find lighter tires, yes, but not more durable. Hang tough on curves with speed. They are easy to slip on too, no tire lever needed. The money is well spent on these.

          This is your race tire.....

This is my go-to RACE tire. There is NOTHING that compares to it on the course, be it road or crit (Attack/Force tires for time trial). I push/pedal through most corners of a crit, even riding fast through a turn at the bottom of a HILL; these tires GRIP! I don't need to be worrying about them "letting go" at the apex of the turn. I have never had one even hint it is not sticking to the road. Durable and easy rolling during a road race. I have never flatted during a race. I love this tire. One set usually last me one season of racing. I get a new set at the beginning of the year but not because they are worn out. I just feel better on a new set.
