Continental Der Kaiser 26in Tire $0.00
We do not sell a bejeweled crown and fur-trimmed robe with Continental Der Kaiser tires, though you might feel like awarding yourself the royal ensemble after a single ride on these gravity-oriented tires. These are tires that ride right for the AM, DH, and FR applications.
Looking at the image here, you might be saying to yourself, "that doesn't look aggressive." Looks can be deceiving. This tire has oodles of bite. The center blocks go straight down into the ground, and the spacing between the blocks, and then the blocks and shoulder lugs, give room for that dirt to move to the side. Then, turn. The spacing between the center blocks and shoulder lugs gives room for a channel of earth to remain between the lugs and blocks, staying constant while the rubber bites in on either side. It's like Velcro to the ground.
Adding to the great design are a few regular Continental features. One thing is that Continental prefers a round profile to their tires. They believe that the transition from riding straight to turning is smoother and easier with a round tire. Another is the Black Chili Compound, which is great for gription. Topping it off is the wide range of conditions this tire is designed to handle -- an all-purpose, all-condition, hard-riding, long-wearing tire.
The Continental Der Kaiser tire uses Continental's Apex casing technology for consistent sidewall support and superior durability. The bead is steel. The recommended tire pressure is 45psi with a max pressure of 58psi. The ETRTO size is 62-559 and the tire size is 26 x 2.5". The tread and casing is black. The weight of a single Continental Der Kaiser tire is 1200g.

Experimenting with a new tire
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I purchased this tire after disintegrating 3 minions on rear tire over the summer race series. Minions perform great but are putting a hurt on my wallet. I was hoping for a tire that has the performance of a minion with longer life. I rode the tire on a very rocky course -same that ripped knobs off the minions. The tire survived quite nice. The performance was better than expected. I am still seeing a bit of pealing on the backs of the center knobs but they are holding tight. I also put in some very aggressive days on hard pack flow trails of The Canyons in Utah and am pleased on this terrain as well. I may have found a new tire! Note - before writing off minions, I am hell on equipment. I am a bigger guy and have a very aggressive riding style. My son who is lighter and a bit more gentile has minions that have lasted an entire season.
End of season the trailing edge of the center knobs are delaminating. Still some life left. Still better life than my minions. Performance has been great. Front tire is unscathed.
