I bought this for my xc bike here in Utah. I come from a downhill/freeride background and was looking for a 29er that would climb well but descend with some squish in the back. I have used lots of 5-6 inch all mountain bikes in the past for my trail riding but wanted to see how these 29 inch wheels felt climbing and descending. I was very impressed with the way the bigger wheels rolled over obstacles and made the 4 inches of travel feel more like 5- 5 1/2 inches. Climbing the bike feels much more at home then a 5-6 inch trail bike. The big wheels take some extra force to get them started rolling but carry momentum much better. The bike was setup with x7 and x5 shifters and derailleurs which were much too slow for me, I swapped them out for X9 all around. I also like the riser bars better then the flat bars offered in this so I switched that out as well. I am about 5'8" and decided to go with the size small and it actually fit me very well. Over all this is a super fun bike to ride for long rides and even handles the down very well for a twitchy 29er.
